Here are some shots from a memorable day for some campers, back in 2005. Not so much for me, I just took some photos after the flood waters had receded a bunch. The water is still pretty high, though nowhere near where it was the day before.

Do you think our moulded fibreglass trailers would have done better?

About 40 years ago I arranged to lead a camping/caving trip with my college outing club. While in the cave I noticed one of the young ladies had traversed the muddy section without getting dirty. In order to preserve the spirit of the trip I "helped" her achieve the proper "look", with an application of mud. Later that night we argued about which way was North. Fast forward 40 years - and we are still arguing about which way is North, and a host of other topics, like naming the new '21.

Eight years ago I took my soon to be wife camping at a local city park that I had camped at for many many years. I invited friends to meet her and we sat around the campfire. Several made note it was going to get into the 40's that night. I had set my tent in my favorite remote spot. She had never camped. It did get cold and we got cold and when she needed to pee at 2 am in the morning I had to take her to the bath house because it was too dark.

I quickly learned my lesson, Park closer to bathrooms. First year of marriage we camped three months in a tent as we traveled cross country. Then we got a Casita and now the Escape 21. We have had more problems but the first trip for us stuck in my mind the most.
