Almost Final Build Sheet 17B
Got great input on my previous thread (panicked). Here's the build sheet for my 17B I will submit next week:
2 Way Hot Water Heater
6V batteries
Solar
Surge Protector
Bathroom Window
Thermal windows and extra insulation
1 Captain Reading Light
LED Brake Lights
Air Con and Digital Thermometer
Winterizing T Valve
Exterior Shower
2 Shelves in closet
Starter Kit
Storage Box
Removable Power Cord
Did not get microwave, heat pads for holding tanks; TV stuff; or a special hitch.
Still thinking about foam insulation and kitchen window.
Appreciate final comments. Thank you.

Spray foam is for using the trailer in colder temperatures. It covers the bottom of the trailer so it is under bed, bath, cabinets and floor and makes the trailer warmer. You can find threads with photos of it. The heat pads cannot be added later if you get foam now.
A kitchen window is a big plus for sure, opening. We had non-opening and now have opening and that is much better, for allowing air in as it is an awning window. Awning windows can be kept open in rain for ventilation. I don't know what the 17' window is there but you can ask for awning if it is not.
Looks as if you will be done soon!

We put the kitchen window and the insulation in our "cute little 17b"
I think the extra window adds light. Liz mentioned that she is glad we have it.
I think the insulation is worth it. Of course, we don't really know since we don't know what it would be like without. We r told it helps in the cold and hot weather, also makes it harder to hear other noisy campers.
We skipped getting the outside shower. Haven't missed it. But can see how people might want it to wash off dirt, sand or their dog(s).
We got the shelves in the cupboard. At times can see it would be nice to hang up shirts but hey who cares if you wear wrinkled clothes.
Other than that we got pretty much everything you did. Except the winterizing switch which would have been nice. We got two reading captains lights. One for each of us.
Lots of choices Have fun.

At $150 the exterior shower is most value for least outlay. We use ours mainly for shampooing hair, but I've seen it used as a dish washing station. Saves wiping down the inside shower.
No showers at this campground and my citified buddy was going through withdrawal.
Suction towel hook attaches to trailer and the 'all-weather' mat from the back seat of my RAV4 keeps dirt from splashing up.

As a shower and for dish washing. I had it installed on the passenger (door) side so it would be under the awning as far back as possible.
And Steve, you indicated you "did not get microwave, heat pads for holding tanks; TV stuff; or a special hitch. I can understand the heat pads and TV stuff, but the microwave? I know a lot of folks hear are anti-microwave, possibly because they do a lot of boon docking and don't have the power or they want a little extra storage space, but we use ours all the time. Great for heating vegetables when using a grill for meat, but really great for warming the rest of that meal meticulously prepared yesterday but not completely consumed. Or when someone wanders into your campsite and engages you in a conversation, while your just prepared lunch or dinner proceeds to get cold.

Several 17b owners have used the wall space behind the sink to add extra shelving to hold cups, plates, glasses, etc. Storage space for this kind of stuff is at a minimum in the 17b. You lose that option with the extra window. We didn't install the outside shower and regret it. IF you ever plan to use a bike rack on the rear of the trailer, consider the extra, high mounted tail lights.

Steve, your build sheet looks good and you've followed a good process to get there. As you have now discovered and from the posts here it can continue to go on and on.
Once we were both pretty satisfied we'd beat it to death, we signed it turned it in about a week early and never looked at it again. Then the fun part, you get to watch ETI build the trailer.

I wonder about only getting "1" capt light? For reading in bed right? Well, for me, I use light #1 when I'm on my left side reading, and light #2 when I'm laying on my right.
Also, I assume that LED brake lights means you are getting extra high set. Way good choice.

Even though mine does not open, I enjoy my kitchen window. It adds light, plus I like to look out. I would suggest also a drawer in the wardrobe cabinet, if you can get one.
I got an outlet on the stove cabinet front for hooking up a hairdryer to use in the bath (door is hinged on the right per my request). It also comes in handy for the electric coffee pot that sits on the stove cover and the cord does not snake from the end by the sink where the stock one is. I also often use it for charging.
Just some additional thoughts.

Yes, it is my impression that most Escapes by far have microwaves. Some people may buy their own. I don't know if there is any difference in the way the cabinets are built if you don't get one and whether one can always be easily added. Some people just never use them and want the space for something else. If you have one and think you will use it but never do, I expect it can be easily removed and sold or used elsewhere. The problem might come in on the cabinetry where someone decides to get a bigger refrigerator as an option and then maybe the microwave has to go somewhere other than the standard space.
