Any ideas?

Hi all,

I would love to purchase a new Escape but cannot afford the shipping to VA nor can I take off enough time from work to go pick one up in BC. Does anyone have any solutions that I haven't thought of?

Thanks!
Lisa

Re: Any ideas?

Hi Lisa,

Maybe find someone trustworthy looking for an adventure who would want to pick it up and camp in it on the way back? BC is a beautiful place to visit.

Re: Any ideas?

Hi Lisa,
Delivery of one trailer can be very expensive. But if you can wait Tammy may be able to deliver more than one to a location close to you. The cost is then split equally. I did just that and although I still had to drive to CA it was worth it to not have to go to Canada. Check with Tammy (and Escape can store your trailer until delivery as well).

Re: Any ideas?

Three of us in the Midwest shared delivery to Sault Ste Marie Ontario. That is a long delivery. I think it took the carrier seven days to make the trip across Canada. The three of us each had about a seven hour drive to the Soo for pickup.

By picking up in Canada we avoided brokerage fees, not sure how much we saved as it would depend on if they would treat the crossing as one delivery or three trailers. The delivery cost of approximately $1,100 each was added to the cost of the trailer by Escape Industries. This meant we did not have to pay the driver, but most important the trailer remained in Escape ownership until delivery. Crossing the border after pickup and registering the vehicle was painless.
