On the trip home we got caught in the storms, it was a trip from hell, left Sunday am and had rain from time hitting Montana and it turned to sleet, freezing rain and finally snow and then the storms hit. It rained so hard that I could not see, crept along for maybe 300 yards until miraculous there was a rest area, we pulled in between 2 semi’s for protection, 75 mph winds, rain/hail sideways, I90 was closed down. I was afraid the trailer vents would be destroyed. Fortunately the semi’s protected us. We had to sit trapped in the car, 6” inches of water all around us. Next am we found out some had their wiper blades blown off! We continued to Wyoming where there was heavy fog, limited visibility, 10 mpg against he wind, we stopped every 2 hours to get gas. Finally we hit South Dakota where the second batch of storms hit, not as bad as the first but limited visibility. We managed that night to sleep in the trailer at a rest stop. Tuesday was rain until we hit Indiana where we saw the sun, finally. Stopped at a truck stop and made it home yesterday just before the storms hit here? what a trip. We saw a truck blow out a tire right in front of us? that and the limited visibility made us lucky to have a safe trip- Franklin was with us in spirit….

We averaged 60 mph over 50 hours driving time going out at 19 mpg for just the truck since some areas were 80 mph limits. Returning with the trailer attached, it dropped to 60 hours at 50 mph average at 15 mpg due to the weather extremes we experienced.

Wow, what a trip Jim! Glad you got home safely. For those still traveling east, a friend of mine posted this on Facebook. Colorado Springs got 20" of snow last night. Be safe everyone!

Kudos to Noelia. Great Picts. As you know we were 24 hours in front of you on the exact path back to PA. I'm imagined the weather we ran into or ran into us was bad. You got us beat. One exception would be the tornado that touch down in Dayton at @10pm. It crossed over right behind us. We were parked under an overpass on I-70 on the east side of Dayton at the time.

So we get back to Lancaster around 2:30 pm. We both breathe a huge sigh of relief. I pop open a beer. Decided to decompress by washing off the trailer that was coated with 50 pounds of bugs. The skies in the west darkens ominously. The wind picks up. Warnings pop up on our cell phones that a tornado has touched down in Lancaster county and "to take shelter immediately".

Nice lake photos, and I think I saw some fiberglass (boat) out there on the water.

Sorry you had to travel in such spitty weather, Jim. Glad you are home and safe.

It's been quite a month around here. 30 day rainfall total of 18 inches, which is 3.5 times the usual. I don't need to drive far (5 miles) to see way too much water, overflowing the banks of the Arkansas River. We have taken to calling this state, "Soaklahoma."

BTW, the gentleman leaning against the wall in post#30 first picture is Karl, the new Escape president, he was in attendance also. I met him several times while at the factory and rally, seems like a nice person. But not an Escape user yet, I emphasized to him that need and he agreed.

Here's a few more. So many happy trailers. The weather wasn’t the greatest but that didn’t really matter much. I’m so used to dry camping - my biggest thrill might have been the luxury of having water, electricity, cable, even sewer hook-ups!
