I guess it is a real thing.

However, it would prevent thieves easily taking the battery off and for about $20 in materials for the cables, ferrules to create the loops and the padlocks, felt it was a worthwhile investment.

It always amazes me that thieves will go to such great lengths to make a couple bucks. If they put that effort into finding a good job and working at it they would be way further ahead.

Only my tent trailer years ago had a battery not in a locked space, so I have never really thought about it. I lost the keys to the tongue box on my dump trailer years ago and the battery in their to power the hydraulic pump is very accessible, maybe I just have been lucky.

I don't miss much from my law enforcement days but I do miss catching thieves. Some officers actually enjoyed issuing speeding tickets. Meh. Taking a stinking thief off the street was far more rewarding, and prevented potentially hundreds of future crimes.

Have a battery lock bracket around my external battery box. It locks the battery to the welded frame. Not worth it for a cheap theft now. Works great.
