Big Foot

Just heard on the news that Big Foot closed its doors today. They were a big player in the small fiberglass trailer market. Sorry to loose them. Any Comments?

Re: Big Foot

I expect they had a lot going against them. Their units were heavy and had acquired that reputation, as well as for being well built. They went through a period with high prices for petroleum products used for raw materials and a Canadian dollar on par with the U.S. Then the economy tanks and those in the market, if they are at all, are looking for light weight units and fuel efficient vehicles. They needed a cushion and they needed a vision, but apparently couldn't see it coming.

On the other hand, I'm in the newspaper business, and I see a Bigfoot trailer drifting sideways into my lane. Trying to take evasive action and hoping to retire before I expire.

Re: Big Foot

There has been quite a few RV manufacturer's close their doors within the last 6 months...some large and some small and on both sides of the border.....Bigfoot being the latest to fall to the banks. This is exactly what happened back in the 80's to Trillium. Hopefully Bigfoot will get back on their feet again as they did offer a well built unit.

Re: Big Foot

Yes, Bigfoot definitely has a good quality product. When I started my search for a molded fiberglass trailer a year or so ago, if they had something under 3,000 lbs dry with a permanent good-sized bed (not 48") I would have likely bought one. Then came along the Escape 19, and all thoughts of buying a Bigfoot disappeared.

Re: Big Foot

Yes its a shame, nobody likes to see a well established company that builds a good product go down.
