Kimberley, my experience is not in a trailer.. but a stick 'n bricks house and it wasn't black but a very dark navy blue. Every bit of dust shows! I was constantly wiping down the countertop in the summer, because the windows were open and dust flies. NEVER again. YMMV

Have to agree with Donna. We put black appliances and black and gray granite in out kitchen....NEVER again. Okay, I'm OCD, but it makes me crazy!

We've got black appliances in our house and every single time they are used they show finger prints etc.
I've got a black truck too. Nicest looking truck on the block for about 10 min. Then...dust, pollen and everything else shows up.

We have a dark formica. Here is a picture of it under construction. Doesn't show much of the counter. We are picking it up next week.

LBaranyai's 17b is the same countertop color as ours.

Here is a darker counter in Karen's Egbert.

Several years ago I had black Formica countertops in my house and then even installed it in my cabin. It had a very rough texture with a matte finish. I loved it.

Here's a picture of our friends 19 with a black countertop (although it has a little pattern in it).

One more thought: I ordered the Radiance Finish with my Formica after having seen it in JohnB's trailer. It is great as it adds a reflective finish to the counter tops and table which makes the trailer visually bigger. It's not clear to me why there is now an upcharge for this particular finish but I think it's worth it. See post 19...

Looks nice, Dave.
This is Kirk, we met in the Okanagan in the summer.

What is your formica colour? Did you provide your cabinet handles, or did you ask Escape for black hardware?

Hi Kirk, nice to hear from you. Are you closer to a purchase of an Escape?

Our Formica is "Mineral Jet {3450-58}" with black vinyl trim.

We purchased custom cabinet door handles from Lee Valley and sent them to Escape for them to install.

regards
dave

thank-you.

By the way, switching to black handles also meant that we had to pick out black hinges to go with them. The extra cost of the handles and hinges was not insignificant.

I thought about doing that, too. It isn't the handles that getcha, it's the hinges--even in the 15 there are a lot of them.
