If I was getting a 21' I would prefer Charlie's cubbies. I like the idea of being able to hang coats, etc. above a couple of cubbies, rather than all cubbies.

I would request that the cubbies NOT be installed and included loose with all the needed parts to install them, even if there was not an allowance for the cost. I did that with a Casita and gladly installed baskets, etc where I wanted them instead of where the maker thought I wanted them.

For a "less cluttered" look, I'll bet the cubbies could be replaced by the owner with a panel, ideally covered with the same headliner material as the rest of the interior. This would be similar to the corner trim panels that Escape has always used.

It doesn't seem strange to me, given the explanation:

Fundamentally, because they are the wall covering in this area, and something needs to cover the insulation. A solution which is reasonable for an owner to install as a customization might not be practical in production, due to installation time required.

Think surface finish, not structure.

I agree that it's worth asking. Escape might not be willing to ship a trailer out without a finished wall surface, but on the other hand some buyers have custom-ordered with cabinetry omitted so there is a precedent.

Also, I'm guessing that the cubbies won't be bonded to anything, so whatever fasteners secure them could be removed to install a replacement.

Having a hard time visualizing coats hanging above Charlie's 1/2 cubbie and opening the bathroom door.

Wouldn't be any different with coats hanging and no cubbies. I've seen that plenty of times.

Ok, but if the coats are hanging sideways there would be no difference whether the ETI cubbie was there or not. If they are hanging perpendicular to the door that seems unrealistic.

Now, I'm really confused. Why would the coats hang perpendicular? They hang straight down, next to the door.

My mistake- what I mean is if coats hang flat against the curbside wall there would be no difference whether the full size cubbie was there or not. If they hang parallel to the door the would interfere with it opening.

Next to the door, there's either room for Charlie's cubbies and coats, etc. hanging above OR the ETI version (no room for coats above) or nothing at all. There's not room for the ETI version and coats in the same space.

The coats hang on hooks mounted on both the bath wall and the entry door frame. Not on coat hangers.
