Campground irritants
Neighbour at Harmon Lake ran his Honda generator for much of the day, but that didn't bother me near as much as all these &*^$ diesel powered trucks and motor homes that are parading past my site on their way in and out of the campground.
I guess the racket makes them feel manly.

That's a nice spot unfortunately a popular place with large gravel sites for monster rigs. When you got a monster Queen Mary rig you need a diesel engine and when there is no power hookup heck why not run your generator all the time for your washer, dryer, multiple tv's, hair dryer, video game, computer…..
I am trying to come up with a list of places with small sites and no hookups. Simplicity in trailer and its use offers freedom to travel off the beaten path.

Once we stayed in an almost empty, full service campground in BC's interior. A couple, in a large diesel "A" class decided it was best to park and stay right next to us...blocking all view. We were only staying for a night, and we were already hooked up, so we didn't bother moving to another site. In the morning the diesel "A" class started up and idled while the occupants washed all their windows, did their dishes, and re-arranged their bus for nearly an hour before leaving.
Some people huh?

I understand the various RV's needs to get in an out of the campground, I can't deny them that. I don't like it when people drive around them for no reason though. Forestry campgrounds with ATV owners staying at them can be a pain. Many are very respectful and idle through the campground, and once off site, the gun it. Yeah, we can't hear that.
I saw a guy at Nk'Mip this spring, a semi-permanent resident, get in his car and drive what would be a 1 minute walk to the washrooms. And trust me, this guy coulda used that bit of exercise.
People just need to be more respectful is all, but for a select few, that is too much to ask.
Just one reason I like camping with just friends and family, where there is a mutual respect. No generators (at least at disrespectful times), not porch lights left blazing away, and no driving around like crazy. Loud singing around the campfire is acceptable though.

Love BLM land. Nearest neighbor might be a mile away. If he wants to run his genny, I'll never hear it.

3 day weekend people at the beach. Too many cars, dogs, kids, beers, frisbees, 24/7 bonfires, loud music, and hosts with earplugs...
I'll never forget going to the biggest party beach in SoCal, Refugio State Beach, last Thanksgiving. Reminded me of that Star Trek episode about the quiet people that went nuts on LandruDays. Right in the middle of the madness was this elderly out of state couple with a Roadtrek trying to read books! I thought, Damn!, did you two pick the wrong weekend to come here!

Want a wild campground experience try a long weekend at Campland (where CA raises its children) on Mission Bay in San Diego. Our kids loved it, we survived it.

We very rarely last that long, and by then the guitars are long put away. Besides, you never come out here to camp with us anyway.
And yes, that is an invite if you ever come out this way.

I knew the guitars probably got put away before 2
Hey, might take you up on the invite. When in Calgary we park in the in-laws driveway in a bland area. Your camping location sounds like more fun.

BLM land=Bureau Land Management basically public lands that haven't been made a national park. Quartzsite gathering is on BLM land where you can camp for free for 14 days then you have to move at least 30 miles. When you leave Quartzsite gathering no fees and no checkout time. BLM land is all over out here in the SW.
