Chilliwack or Bust – Sept 30, 2009!

Sometime in the next few weeks, we’re gonna try to post a link to a Google Map of our planned route up & back for anyone that might be interested in our jouney. Also, suggested camping sites along route are welcomed.

We plan to arrive in Chilliiwack on Sept 30 & stay a night or two. Then we’ll take 2-3 weeks slow-boating our way back to TX while visiting family, friends, & lots of sights. Planned stops include: Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Teton & Rocky Mtn Nat’l Parks. Hopefully we won’t encounter too much early winter weather. Palo Duro Canyon in the TX panhandle will be the last sight-seeing stop.

If anyone happens to be in the Chilliwack area during our pickup or somewhere along our route, let us know if you’re interested in trying to meet up with us. We’d love to put faces to the names we see on the forum. Edgar has already told us he's gonna try to meet up with us in Rocky Mtn Natl Park.

We hope to post some pics (& updates) from the road... However, don’t hold your breath. At a minimum, we’ll post some pics when we get back to TX.

Brad

Re: Chilliwack or Bust – Sept 30, 2009!

It'd sure be nice to have 6 weeks to really explore each park, I'm just gracious we can swing the 3 weeks to pick up the trailer & not have to drive super long days to get it back home. Given the time constraints & distance we have to cover, we realize that we're only gonna get a small taste of each of the parks. But it'd be too hard to just drive by them without at least making a cursory visit of a day or two. Plus it'll help us prioritize which one to get back to for a longer stay next year.

btw - On the way up, we're hoping to catch the tail end of the fall colors in the Rockies before the aspens drop their leaves.

Congratulations on your 19' Brad and Shay!! I'm sure you are going to be just as thrilled with yours as those of us who have our Escapes already. And what a testimonial to the quality of the Escape that you're traveling from Texas!

Have a wonderful time on your leisurely trip back home

Brad,

Your 19 Escape ( as of Monday, Sept. 7 ) is having the headliner installed. Couple interior pix for you and another to come under General.

Sweeeeeeeet... It's awesome to see pics to make it feel more real rather than vapor.

Thanks for taking the pics and posting them for us Glenn. You rock! Would it be possible for you to email the full resolution pics (including the one of Tammy & Reace in our 19) to us for our soon to be started photo album?

Also, let us all know if the new converter did ultimately solve your battery/electrical issues you had been having.

Brad

BTW - Jim, I'm getting even more stoked now!

Well... We got a final confirmation from Tammy the other day that the 9/30 date is still a go for our 19.
So after a couple of frantic days of packing, we're loading up and hitting the road today. Woohoo!

Re: Chilliwack or Bust – Sept 30, 2009!

Thought I'd put closure to this thread.

We picked up Grasshopper & just got back to TX in the evening on Oct 22. Had a great trip & love our trailer. It was nice to finally meet Tammy & Reace in person. They're wonderful people & we are very appreciative for their help throughout the whole process. Also, thanks to everyone for all the well wishes.

If interested, you can refer to the "Grasshopper" thread in "Show Your Escape" for more details of the trip & a link to Shay's blog of it with pics.

Re: Chilliwack or Bust – Sept 30, 2009!

Question for our moderators: In our ongoing travels (nice to share when we've been somewhere that would be interesting to others - or at least I enjoy camping vicariously with each of you), where would be the best place to place those? Since they assuredly will have pics of our Escapes, would it be "Show your Escape"?
Like Brad & Shay, under "Grasshopper"? Or our travels "HokieEscape Escapes"? Just wondering.

Trip reports and subject header.

Since Jeff is making changes to the site anyway, I would suggest he broaden the topics covered under Where to Stay, or Not to include trip reports, or create a new category. Hard for me to say since I read everything, and there haven't been so many posts that it has been a chore.
Helps though if people change the subject heading when the post starts to morph into a new area.

Re: Chilliwack or Bust – Sept 30, 2009!

I agree with you Glenn. I have found myself wondering about a comment on, let's say "brakes". Remembering I read some helpful comment, but not remembering where it was ...... I go to the proper category, look up brakes and read everything .... and it's not there! No, lo and behold, it's over in another category under "cabinet renovations" or the like. Oh well ... if anyone wants to look up comments on wondering thoughts in a specific category, just look under "General Discussion .. Grasshopper .. Chilliwack or Bust". Makes sense : - )

Re: Chilliwack or Bust – Sept 30, 2009!

I can add another category, not a problem.. Let me start another thread - in the general topic - to get some additional input on changing some stuff around..

But... If you ever need to "find" something - Click on the highest Category "Forum" and then use the SEARCH field located under the "USER Info Pane" and it will find every instance of what you typed in over all categories.. in this example "brakes"..
