Bed comfort and sound sleep on the road are top priorities. We try to spend much of our day outside. Yet most of our in-trailer hours are our sleep hours.
We’ve tried 4 steps before reaching our sleeping solution. We use standard queen size (US 60 x 80”) products Which have all fit our 2019 E19 bed area.
First, we installed the Froli travel system beneath the ETI OEM mattress. This raises the mattress about 2”. (First image) The Froli foundation was an improvement, both in comfort and in getting airflow beneath the mattress. The Froli also made bed linen installation easier. Yet, we never liked the OEM mattress’ “feel”.
Second, we added a super comfortable ViSpring queen size (60 x 79-1/2”) topper that is 2-1/2” thick. This topper is actually slightly larger than the ETI OEM mattress, and it fit the E19 bed area easily. We sometimes use a fitted sheet just on the topper, which is super easy. (Second image, topper on mattress with tape measure) The combination was better, but the OEM mattress still was not our favorite.
Third, we used a queen (60 x 80”) all-wool mattress from Holy Lamb Organics. It is really flexible, and linens go on easily. It fit the E19 space easily. We like the 5” thick all-wool mattress, but it is more comfortable when using a different foundation system than the Froli. (Third image)
Finally, we decided to get an “Elite” pocketed spring, all natural material queen mattress that is 60" x 79-1/2 x 10-3/4”. (Fourth image) The mattress weighs 105 lbs, sits atop the Froli system. The pocked spring design is flexible enough for us to get the fitted sheet on by lifting each corner. We still use the topper. Sometimes we put the fitted sheet over both topper and mattress, and sometimes we put the fitted sheet on just the topper.
We are really happy with this mattress.
Thus our experience is that the E19 bed space is large enough to fit all these approaches and allow relatively easy changing linens. Standard US queen 60 x 80” linens worked for all.
Changing bed linens will never be as easy as a normal walk around bed, but it is quite doable in most any configuration.
Hope you can find a doable and comfortable combination.
