Dinette lighting

After playing a game of cribbage every night for two weeks, and losing all but two games to my wife, we've found we have one thing in common. Neither of us can see the holes in the cribbage board.

Anyone have a lighting solution to illuminate the two-person dinette table in 17B?

How about switching out the single for double LED lights or run 2 wires from the corner light along the top shelf and install a double under the shelf directly over the table.

Glenn... Sounds like us! We found a small LED bar at Camping World that we put in the center of the shelf above the window.
Before that we used a couple small "clip on" lights that you find at Home Hardware.
Now that we use the big table at the other end it's easier... I managed to win 2 games last night!

Hoping somebody can identify the light that will fit under that shelf.
More light isn't required. Just light in the right place ( ie. middle of the table ).

Remember any details? I'd have to order since we are not going to the U.S. any time soon or maybe ever, depending on travel medical insurance.

Lighting is one thing that I haven't got to yet. The 19, in addition to lights under the shelves around the bed, has a double fixture over the center of the bed. We don't really need all the light over the bed. Yet the dinette has 3 surrounding lights under shelves but no light centered over the table

So, yes, for doing things like reading etc. there's a shortage of suitable light. I'm looking at removing the front under shelf light and replacing it with a light fixture on an arm, centered over the table. It's on my winter to-do list.

Hi: gbaglo... Might be easier to pack in the cards... and play a game that doesn't require as much light!!! Alf

Where are the 3 lights? In my 19 I had one centered over the dinette...which I added a night light to

Never mind, rereading your post you indicate you want to move the light that is there out over the table...perhaps switching the single to a double may help you.

Light on arm would be perfect, or one with flexible, bendable arm that can be positioned. I have an AC version that I use for fly tying.

This one looks like it may have potential.
Compass Adjustable LED Reading Light, Screw Mount - ITC 69923S-N13K-DB - LED Lighting - Camping World
I'd like to know how focused the light is though, before installing it.

Amazon has several models, here are 2 x 12v models on flexible arms I bought in the past.
Just add a 12v outlet over the dinette shelf.

I picked up some LED strip lighting from Lee Valley and put a 36" strip with a dimmer in the shelf above the front window. Right now it sits on the shelfs and faces upwards acting more like mood lighting. I am thinking of putting the strip under the shelf facing downwards. It is warm white and puts out a lot of light so I tend to keep it dimmed right now.

Thought of the strip light, but, I'm concerned that the light itself would be a distraction in that position.

I found several gooseneck, nautical chart lights on Amazon. They are hard wired. Mine have about a 12" "neck" and are great for task lighting. They're pretty focused so not so good for general illumination.

What I had in mind is more like a pool table lamp effect. A nice circle of light on the table top and no shadow with the light behind the head or glare looking towards an led light. I'm thinking something more with a small lamp shade. Still working on the design.

What I do know for sure is that I'm going to remove the center under shelf light and use that location and power supply for my new light fixture.

Looking at the space available on the front and bottom of the shelf in my 17, I don't see anything that's gonna work for me. I've only got 1 1/2" height and depth, if you are optimistic.
Just have to be romantic and light a candle.
Right Alf?

Having no light directly over the table was a frustration for us, so a couple years back I followed the example of another on here (sorry, not sure who), and installed a double light directly over the center of the table.

First I cut out a piece of the insulation, in order to epoxy a wood mounting block to the shell.

I then fished in a couple wires from the Maax fan.

I epoxied in a 1/2" thick piece of baltic birch ply, and wired in the light I bought.

Lots of great light to be had. Notice the great tissue paper holder the front shelf makes.
