Dirk's magnificent adventure

If you're not reading Dirk Lewis's blog on his tour of Haida Gwaii in his Escape, you should be.

You can find it at:

http://web.me.com/mosquitodirk/Site/Haida_Gwaii.html

It starts with his most recent adventure and works its way back to the beginning of the trip. I mention this since I was half way through the blog before I figured it out.

Great pix and prose.

Re: Dirk's magnificent adventure

I see lots of updates in it, good job Dirk. I will find some time to read through it later.

You may have noted it in something I have not read yet, but what are you using for photo gear Dirk?

An excellent adventure.. great job.. Love the photo of patient Fin.. reading his blog makes me want to hitch up and head out!

One thing though, he started me thinking about if my car is charging the Escape. I have to check that out..

Re: Dirk's magnificent adventure

I just went through the whole blog. Lots of good info in there Dirk, well written too.

Just a thought, would it be possible to embed the images so that clicking on them would show them full size. They look great and I would love to see them larger.

Re: Dirk's magnificent adventure

Hi all, thanks for taking interest in the blog - it is definitely fantastic here (Escape Artist - given this landscape it's near impossible to take bad photos). I should have a couple updates to the blog later today - have to go plug in for a bit - charge and warm.

To answer a couple of questions.

Nikon D-SLR and a MacBook. (and assorted lenses etc).

I'm learning this blog thing, so I'll try embedding the photos (thought about it but haven't figured out how yet).

Cheers,
Dirk

Hi Dirk,
Great adventure!!!
And I thought I was the only one that had read "The Golden Spruce" Since reading the book I have been planning the trip up there in my mind.

Re: Dirk's magnificent adventure

We are going next summer and I have yet to read any of this blog but will certainly do it when I have time.

We are going to take the ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert and then go over to the islands for a few days...

No car/no trailer...so just "walk on" and motels or B&B..

It is because the 15" trailer will not be ready this summer that we decided to do this kind of a non trailer trip.....
Maybe years from now when we retire we will do it with the trailer...... I know the $$$ cost is WAY less with no car...

Re: Dirk's magnificent adventure

Hi all,

Now that my trip is done (for the time being) I am working on the website. With the changes in the site will come a change in address.

web.me.com/mosquitodirk should now get you to the site (without the rest of the previous address).

Cheers,
Dirk
