That it does, Rbryan, that it does. Brian... well next week we plan to escape to where I just heard current weather reports are in the high 90's and I won't yet have my air conditioning. Planning my back-up solution, though: fan sitting on countertop behind block of ice.

I like it! Thinking I will be in my workshop this afternoon modifying a spare cooler. Jim I think you just saved me many hundreds of dollars.

A commercial version of the red neck air conditioner that I posted earlier.... It's all good.

Mine lasted about 4 hours before the ice melted, long enough to take a nap.

Ouch. I am making a really really big block of ice, as we speak. Hope to report it lasts a couple days longer than that.

Mine was bagged ice, I wonder if one can use dry ice? that lasts awhile. Not sure if the off gas is potent, though. In addition the cooler that came with it was not that insulated, maybe if you used a Yeti or some other super insulated cooler, you will get several days of use.

It's the WallyW, "Hercules Heavy duty Ice Chest," and the styro-walls are 1½ inches thick... so, much more than a $5 day-cooler throw-away. Almost bought a WallyWorld $15-dollar hard plastic cooler but, since this is mainly all an experiment my conservative side is more willing to cut holes in a throw-away Hercules. The fan can always find use. The PVC, I had. Hadn't thought of using dry ice but sounds like an option. Big ice blocks should, by my reckoning, last a long time. Only issue with them is the heavy lifting.

Who knows? If the thing proves functional it just might relieve the pressure to spend the big a/c bucks just for them few days when we might really be sorry we didn't have one.
