Dog days
Today here early this morning it is a cool 71 degrees but we have no plans to go camping. It’s the dog days of summer. Dog days! All around us our blue skies will in a moment become filled with big storm clouds and sudden, heavy rain. It is monsoon season, so says the TV weather guy. Weather patterns seem here to be feast or famine.
Considering the big drought that has plagued the entire southwest the last years, in NM a rainy July seems strange. Yesterday in Albuquerque on the Paseo del Norte we watched a monster ten mile(?) wide swath of nasty lightning storms in the skies. With big-time flooding reports stretching way up into Colorado I have no desire to camp. Navajo Lake or driving to Durango can wait. ET-19 will sit.
What about all that heavy rain reported elsewhere on the news? Strange no one is calling for building a water pipeline, to send water from other parts of the continent that have been getting so much water this year, the northeast, Minnesota, etc., to the parched western parts getting none.
If it’s not too stormy in NM, it’s hot, (below 7200 ft elevation.) August I trust, will bring more agreeable weather - or, maybe not. We will wait and see before taking a next trip with ET-19. I worry about food. Still pondering/planning a computer fan for inside my fridge. Why take a chance?
The Dog days. What to do? Go to computer, look over old pictures. Our last big trip was that totally fine May RV rally at Moab, Utah. Ah, yes. Here's a few more images.
