Jim, best of luck - let's hope that pole stays upright!

Best wishes to all those affected by the ice. Does not sound like much fun at all.

Well, Jim, at least you would be able to cook hot meals in BlackJack even if everyone cannot stay in it. Hope that pole is no where near your trailer. One of my neighbors had his car damaged by a falling tree limb. The number without power here is now over 750,000. Worst outage ever here.

The weather sounds brutal in a lot of North America. We're really lucky here in Vancouver, no snow but we're complaining bitterly about a few days of down to -8 C.

Here's a sight to warm your hearts, the storage area for the winter completed Escapes awaiting warmer weather pickup be their new owners. Heart warming shot but in the few minutes it took to take the shot my fingers almost got frostbite.

I'm currently up in Shippensburg PA on business "enjoying" the cold and ice. Last Sunday, I did manage a canoe trip of 8 miles on the French Broad river near my home in Western North Carolina near Asheville. The weather there has been up and down this year.

Not as bad as many of you but the snow has hit the Portland area and our little Escape is cold.

It's only been snowing for about seven hours in Portland and I'm already sick of it. It's coming down sideways....

I only have 3-4 inches on the ground... but DRIFTS against the garage doors and front door. That blasting gorge wind. I don't think I can get the front door open to get out. Another round of snow coming later today. Snug at home for the weekend. Maybe I'll get the patterns out and start planning the pillows I want for my 5er.

Stay warm, stay safe everyone!

Ice storm hit wednesday, 70,000 people without power, I still have mine but the lights keep flickering, trees down all over the place. If we can not get the lines fixed before the next snow I'm afraid it will be a disaster because the ice has not melted. More snow this weekend and next week……I'll be glad once it gets above freezing.

The overnight temperatures have been near -25°C for about a week now. This cold weather is fairly typical for us here in Alberta. However, it does kind of suck for me as my remote starter on my truck appears to have crapped out in the last couple of days. Once you are used to leaving the house into a warm vehicle in the mornings, it is quite painful to have to drive to work in a very cold vehicle.

We are seeing many types of birds that have never visited us before. I wonder if all the cold weather isn't causing them to winter over a little farther south this year?

Hi: Ray N... Those must be "Snow Birds". They're all over here in Ft. Myers Beach.

I've never owned a vehicle with a remote starter (until a few days ago, having only lived in Alberta for three decades, and I haven't tried that one yet), so I think I'm allowed to point out that you can go out for a moment to turn the key - maybe while you are walking the dog or getting the newspaper - and then let the truck warm up while you are inside.
