Escape 17B coming (almost) full circle

Hi All,
Thought I would say hello and tell the story of how we came to own our Escape.
After several years camping in a teardrop, we talked with a couple at a state park in Oregon who had a Casita. It looked like an ideal compact ‘standie’(teardrop jargon).
I started haunting the Fiberglass RV and Casita sites and a short while later a 1995 Scamp 16 came up for sale 15 miles from home and I jumped on it.

The Scamp was an ideal first ‘real’ RV – you know, with propane appliances, flushing toilet, fresh water tank & pump, black tank etc. It had enough new stuff to learn to deal with – like needing a truck to move around the campsite instead of just un-hitching and rolling it around by hand.

Since I have at least an average ‘guyness quotient’, I was on the look for the next great thing…Escape trailers caught my eye of course, but I was reminded we had a perfectly good – & paid for – trailer, so we decided it made sense to wait until closer to retirement to move to a fully featured trailer – it was an easier decision because the wait for a new unit was out until some time next winter. And then there was the 17 or 19 foot problem….

Then May 25 SlvrSt8Steve posted his 2009 17B for sale and I debated about 40 minutes before I convinced Norma it was the trailer for us – it was cheaper than new, the money was sitting in a savings account making .025%, we wouldn’t have to worry about the first scratch, it was available almost right now and we didn’t have to decide 17 or 19!

I called Steve and the bargain was struck.

I picked it up in Reno last Friday and drove home stopping once to Wallydock Friday and once to join a Fiberglass NOG (not organized gathering) in Washington Saturday. Cathy was there with her brand new 15B!

It pulls beautifully behind our Trailblazer and sleeps great. We’ll move in and have a real camping trip weekend after next on the coast.

So that’s my intro – we’re the third owners of a year old Escape 17 that was born in Chilliwack, moved to San Jose, CA, then Reno, NV and now Marysville, WA (102 miles from where it was hatched).

Long story, but we couldn’t be happier with our new – to us - Escape. (And the Scamp sold in 24 hours!)
We hope to meet some more of you down the road - like Bandon.

Congrats Paul and Norma! Many happy trails to you.
Now the only "next great thing" you'll be looking at is a 19 or 5.0 : - ) Have fun.

Hi: paulw...and WELCOME!!! Your story has such a familiar ring to it...I couldn't help but re:read it. You found "The Pullet Surprise" sorta like we found our 5.0...before it was lost!!! ENJOY Alf.
