Escape 5.0 is STORM PROOF!!!

Hi: All...Just got back from "The Scrambled Egg Meet" in Shipshewana Ind. One lone Escape 5.0 out numbered by a half dozen or so Scamp 5ths. SHEESH were we busy giving tours. One comment was "Oh boy we've got something new to look at".
Wed. nite a tornado blew thru Goshen, 20 mi. west, and that had everyone except two of us weighty soles, in the washrooms. The power went out at least 4 times but I stayed in the picnic shelter and everything from the waist up got soaked to my skin. The MaxxFan was up the whole time and not a drop of water in the trailer. The wind blew at least 60 MPH. for the better part of the storm... and the rain came by horizontally. Alf

oh my, glad everything turned out. And now we know Escape 5.0 don't fly Bet all the Scamp 5th wheel folks were curious and jealous of the big bathroom AND front to back sleeping in the Escape.

Glad you were safe Alf. Just one of the things I love about the mountains, NO Tornados! When we come out West again, it won't be in Tornado season : - (

Nice to know the Escape is not only lightweight, comfortable and beautiful but also storm proof!

Sure glad it never came closer to you, Alf.

While the Escapes are built tough, one must not take the dangers of tornadoes lightly. Even an Escape would not survive the effects of one full on.

10 years ago, there was a deadly one that swept through a campground at Pine Lake, 1 1/2 hrs north and east of Calgary, killing 12 campers. One was the husband of my brothers secretary, who I had also met and done work for. LINK

I think I might would be looking for a more solid structure to take refuge in should there be threats of a tornado anywhere near me.

Alf, do they build many carriages? Other then Amish communities, and the odd horse owner, I can't imagine the demand is real high.

Hi: Jim Bennett... His work is outstanding in his field. I saw his Carriages in Frankenmuth Mich. on the way home.
The two tone red one in the pic. was a repair trucked in from N.Y.City. Ins. job. It got rear ended by a Taxi driver talking on his cell phone.
I saw a custom one in kelly green and white...$20,000. for the paint job alone. Each piece of it was encased in custom padded/zippered covers.
He uses the same tabbed in process that Escape uses. Wood tabs into the fiberglass to secure the seat blocks etc. The body sides are arborite on plywood for a smooth even paint surface.
He has done repair/repaints on the Budweiser Beer Wagons but didn't build them. Alf p.s. He hasn't done any Chuckwagons tho.

Hi: Jim Bennett...We didn't get time or good enough weather to go to the Amish Buggy Works. They come in any colour(as long as it's black)/size from 2 seater SUVs to 7pass. VANs. All use the same 1 Horse(racing breed) engine. They don't run pollution free but sound great!!! Alf
