Re: Escape 5.0 on order

Hi: All... The propane cylinder storage comp. is sealed with a resin coating and has a vented door and a drain hose/vent in the compartment floor in case of a leak. The top of the comp. inside the trailer serves as the top step to the bed. The bottom step is the storage one. The exterior storage compartments are either side of the propane compartment. Very well thought out use of space !!!
So far I have had only one cyl. out to be topped up each season we have owned "Our Escape Hatch". Alf
escape artist N.S. of Lake Erie p.s. we have three exterior lights. Door, hitch pin, and service hookup/ exterior shower side. You just never know

Re: Escape 5.0 on order

My 3rd light is on the rear of Hokie (see the picture of Jim molesting my "Hokie" - above Dec 3rd). Right between the Hokie and Escape! Let's us see what is prowling around behind us in the middle of the night! Our other two are at the front door and over the outside shower (can see what's prowling on that side too). The door way light has a "bug light cover" and is an LED. The other 2 have clear covers and are BRIGHT halagens to cast LOTS of light! My Nissan Frontier has a light that illumines the hitch for night time hookups. There is, of course, the light at the hitch that illumines the propane compartment (which I was VERY thankful for that time in Durango, CO, at 2 in the AM, and I ran out of propane. The 2" of freshly fallen snow did not adequately illumine it!).
I "wish" I had two more lights in the bed area, both further forward on each side. The two furnished are at your head (great for reading, or night time use), but not handy if you are just sitting on the front edge of the bed. I may have Tammy send me two new lights and install them myself (along with some LED bulbs).

Re: Escape 5.0 on order

I had a great conversation with Rease yesterday concerning a front window. Apparently a slider window presents water leakage problems, but Rease said he had a dual-pane, non-moving window of the same size as the bunk windows which should fit. Depending on the price, we're going to add it as an option.

Lights:
Here are my thoughts so far:

Additional lights; under the loft in the area of the hitch, in the back and on the service side. I am also going to request a duplicate set of the brake/turn/tail lights mounted above the rear window...or a set of LED running lights there.

Outlets:
12v and 110v outlet on the back of the loft cabinets (street-side) for a 12v oscillating fan, 110v and 12v outlets in the dinette area, and 110v to the right of the door (maybe in the cabinet above that storage unit).

Any suggestions?

Dave

Yes, the other tank was FULL but off (much to my embarrasment) so I had to "run out". We sure did laugh at that one, and not 2 weeks later, but right then!!!!
Dave, the duplicate service lights mounted high on the back is a GREAT idea! When we mount our bikes on the back of Hokie, it does tend to "hide" them to some extent. Higher mounted back up lights would be helpful too. As I said above, I'd add 2 more lights in the bed loft, toward the front. Another 110 outlet on the drivers side of the dinette would get used for sure. Other than that, sounds good to me.

Hi: HokieEscape...Dan I was just over at www.vintagetrailersupply.com and in their interior electrical lighting sect. they have some very sleek adjustable reading light fixtures comp.w/ switch& bulb for $9.49. They look like they would install on the o'head bin beside the bed and could be wired into the other fixtures up there. Alf
