Not sure if other posters answered this question completely or if you got the answer you wanted but I would add the outside storage space behind the hatch in front of the door is isolated from the spaces available under the two bottom stairs, as well as from the space under the top step which is accessed from the large hatch under the sleeping loft. As Donna says, it is deep, very deep, and it is not connected to any other storage space.

Hi Carl,
Are you saying that the top step storage is accessed from a large hatch under the bed mattress or from the out side access
hatch in front of the trailer?
Mark

Mark
The top step space is not accessible from inside. There are two large hatches on the front of the 5.0TA. The lower holds the propane tank(s) and the upper is storage. This is the space under the top step. There is also a hatch in front of the door with a space only accessible from outside. This is the "deep" compartment. The two lower steps flip up providing storage space accessible from inside the trailer.

Carl,
Got it thanks again, But now my wife has a question for you is the top storage compartment big enough to store two lawn chairs?
Mark

Escape 5.0 TA Questions

Hi Mark. No not big enough for lawn chairs. But a great place for propane stove, hoses, electrical cords and such.

Cheers
Doug

Unless they changed it since mine was built the inside of the top step is accessed from the 2nd step, inside the trailer. As you have to reach up to get to it it's kind of useless. Might make a good place to hide stuff if you get creative.

Could probably cut out the front of the top step and put in a cabinet door and a bottom to what would be your new cubby. Don't know if you'd have issues with weight bearing on the steps if you did so though.

Currently have no need for yet more storage so I've done nothing with it.

Gosh, Ten Forward must be different still. When I flip up the second step, I have some cavernous space. The limitation isn't depth (to the front), but the the second step is only about 6-7 inches when flipped up.

That's the same as mine Donna. If you reach in and up you can put your hand up to the top of the top step.

I'd love to be able to put my folding chairs in that area, unfortunately the second step is too short. I guess I could carry them there, just not store them there. When the carpet wears out, I'm going to see what I can do to hinge the top step
