Oliver owners saw an Escape at the U.S. Glacier NP in the last few days. Wonder if it is someone here.

Hi Bruce, yes that was us, just returning home from a few days at Miracle Beach just north of Courtney.

We were headed west on Sunday, 28th, I-84, near John Day River. Spotted an Escape heading east about 11:15 AM. Blinked my lights but don't know if it was noticed.

While traveling in the UP of Michigan 4th of July week Larry thinks he saw 5.0 TA. An Escape sighting in Michigan would be a rare thing, not many here yet. (We pick up our 19 in October so there will be 1 more.) I wasn't looking at oncoming traffic at the time so missed it..

Our Escape will be traveling through your state twice. Aug 26 we'll be through the UP on way to southern ON then end of Sept. likely through your part of MI going from the Niagara Wine Escape to the Mississippi rally.

Enjoy your trip. Michigan is beautiful that time of year. We will stalk the highways in hopes of getting a glimpse. We head west 9/30 for our pick up.

Saw a rare 13' at the Duke Point ferry terminal heading back to the mainland. My question is, once you're on Vancouver Island and have seen how beautiful it is, why would you want to leave?

trees & rocks, trees & rocks . . .

"once you're on Vancouver Island and have seen how beautiful it is, why would you want to leave?"

About a decade ago, I was taking my aunt & uncle, visiting from Germany, on a road trip around Vancouver Island. Travelling West from Campbell River towards Gold River, to catch the boat to Tahsis, my uncle asked the question (tongue firmly in cheek of course), literally translated from his native language, "Don't you have anything here besides trees & rocks, trees & rocks, & more trees & more rocks?"

If you mean ocean water you are correct. But fresh water not so much. Even though this is the "wet coast" we are going through an unprecedented dry spell. A warm winter resulted in little or no snow on the local mountains and an unusually hot & dry spring and early summer, has caused the water level in the local rivers to be extremely low and very warm. This has a lot of people concerned for spawning salmon, to the point were the government has banned all river fishing. Vancouver Island is now at level 4 drought alert (the highest it can go) something unheard of around here. We're not "California North" yet but it's still kind of scary.
