Like a lot of folks our age, my wife and I were raised to respect and take care of things we worked hard to get. That’s not to say our dads did not believe in building, painting, pushing and rebuilding race cars boats, etc. My criticism comes when folks bend up stuff that’s not meant to be treated that way, get mad when they don’t “win” with their toys and generally lack an understanding of how to keep things meant to be upright, upright.

In response to John’s (AnglingMad) question, yes those are the kind of hardware we use to secure our fridge before travel. And though people are reporting here that the newer fridges have better door latches, I wouldn’t chance going without the extra strapping on the roads we travel. The forces applied to the doors as we hit potholes are huge, and amplified by the food carried in the door.

I've been just about everywhere with my 2017 17 b over the last year. On about the toughest roads you can imagine taking a trailer on in craggy wash outside lake haves az. The trailer performed very well. I had considered an Oliver but was happy I chose the steel framed escape over an aluminum frame . I ran into some folks who had broken the aluminum frame on their Oliver. I DID end up bending my axle but Dexter shipped me another one for free even though the warranty didn't cover alignment problems. I ended up installing the new axle myself while on the road. Generally I think the trailer is pretty robust. The only complaint I have is that the door doesnt close right but I think this is due to the design of the friction hinge rather than frame or body problems.

the latches on the double doors on my '14 E21 (sorry, don't know the fridge model offhand) are very secure, have never had it pop open.

Member of that particular Escape Facebook group. I'm fairly sure you can look without being a member, but that you can't post if you're not a member. Admin has to approve you.

I am a member, but I'm thinking of creating an Escape Facebook group where you have to own a 17B and be named Glenn to join. Must have two 'n's.

That trip does not look too appealing to me, a definite white knuckle drive. Single lane, rocks, pot holes, I'll pass. Two lane paved roads is my vision of roughing it...
