How do you explain to your boss that you need another browser so you can be more effective in surfing RV web sites?

That's understandable, and leads to a solution...

I'm not suggesting breaking any company rules, but if they allow you to install software which does not require administrator privilege, assistance, or permission, I note that Chrome can usually be installed under these conditions (you just choose to "install for only the current user" rather than "install for all users", or whatever the current options say).

Our city IT dept. requires IE. However, everyone except one person in the dept. has Firefox or Chrome on their personal machines. Gee, I wonder who's in charge? : laugh:

As I've mentioned, yes Firefox doesn't cause me any grief. I can see all the Google Maps, I'm not asked to log in... only with IE. But then again, IE remembers I have a gmail account... (and, I've deleted cookies/cashe many times!). Screw it... if one browser doesn't work.. try another one
It just important that new folks understand, not all is lost....

I used to work in the IT dept. of a large bank. The reason I.E. was mandated was because we had many browser based applications (including some from third party vendors), which required I.E. Part of the reason was because developers and vendors didn't want to test their application in different browsers (let alone different versions of different browsers), and part of it was because I.E. had many non-standard behaviors. As a result, applications that would run well in I.E. would not run well in any other browser. Everyone paid for this when it became time to upgrade from IE 6 to IE 8, which changed many of the non-standard MicroSoft Behaviors. It ended up being a multi-month, multi-million dollar upgrade. No one hated IE more than the people who actually wrote the browser based applications. I have heard that Microsoft has gotten better about following standards. But in the last couple of weeks I have had to write a bit of javascript for my bike club web site. The first version worked fine everywhere except IE. It took me another couple of days to make it work in IE and other browsers.
At home we switched to Macs long ago. I liked it because the slashes in the file names pointed the right way. But the best part was that my domestic tech support burden dropped dramatically.

Real men - I mean operating systems - use forward slashes. That of course includes Apple's version of BSD

My wife uses a Mac and an iPhone. When the Mac doesn't work, I say "I dunno... I don't use a Mac"; when she has trouble with the iPhone, I do a Google search in Chrome on a Windows PC to find the answer... works every time. Minimal tech support either way

Yeah, no serious debate here... like Ford-versus-Chevy debates, it's just an endless source of humourous comments.
So, how's that wall of flags looking?

Hello Everyone,
I apologize for not updating this on a regular basis...however, it is time to update the photos of our Wall of Flags. I am hoping there are still a few more to come in the new year.

The thread listing the flags is here:
http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f7...s-3938-17.html
See post #163 for the latest. As you can see, New Hampshire is not yet represented. Please post in that thread if you want to provide the flag and I'll update the list. Thanks!

If New Hampshire isn't represented yet my wife and I will send a flag! Is the recommended size 3 foot by 5 foot?

One 3 foot x 5 foot New Hampshire state flag is on its way to British Columbia!
Should be there between April 8th-April 15th.

Was wondering if the New Hampshire flag has made it to Escape trailers? Has the list been updated recently?

We just got the Kansas flag delivered tonight to take with us to Chilliwack for the trailer pickup. I don't think ETI can be missing more than 3 or 4 from North America. Most notably the Dakotas. Kind of a hole in the center of the US. Loren

The list of states they DON'T have should be a pretty short one!
