Mike, the difference I see between the single and double door fridges are that the 2 door cools down once you stop moving whereas the single door would not recover by the next morning. The problem would compound on multiday trips.

I tried leaving the external fan running and saw no change, it still gained in temp on long trips. As it cools back down relatively quickly it's okay with us as is. We do take along a cooler, even with the 2 door, just in case.

As some seem to see a difference with the fan, you might give it a try. Especially living in FL.

I heard back from Sarah at Escape. She said the fan is made by Dometic but did not have the model number. She also said if the fan was installed post-production it would cost $225 for labor as well as the $175 for the fan.
