Falt tire, part two
Grrrr.. I hit "tab" and got posted before I was done. To continue:
Right as I noticed there was a problem, other drivers on the freeway started signalling that I had a flat. I got over and off as soon as I could, but the tire was a goner, ripped and shredded. Apparently the destruction of the tire was the vibration I noticed. There was no swaying or pulling on the part of the trailer; it remained stable. I'm really glad for the tandem axle set-up, though, and thankful that a single tire has the capacity to support the trailer.
After I got the spare on (a long, separate story) and resumed driving I started wondering, are there any warning signs of a tire losing air that I'm unaware of? I'm going back to using extension mirrors on my Tacoma, that way I'll have a bit of a view of how the tires are doing.
