Fast trip to Chilliwack!

OMG, all us folks on the production line for a new 5er are in for a real treat! What a wonderful, beautiful trailer. Just like all Escapes. Can't help it though.... I'm a 5er fan so that's where my concentration was targeting.

I started this thread just to build anticipation. Doncha hate me!?

Vicki A., flew into Portland on Monday morning. I picked her up and we immediately drove to Chilliwack. Spent the night at a close by motel and drove the two blocks to ETI when they opened yesterday morning at 8am. MY STARS! The lot is full of new trailers waiting for shipping and owner pick ups. But, but, but... the production facility is stuffed with new trailers in the build process. That place is humming with workers and new wood smells and you can just feel the good times ahead for owners. Yes, I took some pictures. I'll work at getting them off my camera and posted sometime today or this evening. I KNOW Vicki took a ton she wants to share also.

I'm so glad I was able to go up for a quick visit. I ended up making some minor build sheet changes, thanks to Kim. She was fantastic and just as nice as she appears via email. The whole crew was helpful! Didn't get much time to visit with Reace and Tammy. They were working after all. And, I didn't want to do anything that would slow down production for even one minute. There are owners waiting for their trailers!

More later....

Here's an idea....

Open a shuttle service to ETI.

How exciting.

hahaha, not likely! Vicki and I spent about 13 hours of driving time for a round trip and were only at the factory for less than three hours total. Oh, my sore bum..

BTW: don't trust Mapquest! We only took a couple of wrong turns and a wrong exit to the factory. Good thing Chilliwack isn't a huge town!

Actually I did look it up via mapquest...just to get an idea on how far it is..

If you follow mapquest here...it takes you on a seasonal logging road and you won't be found until spring.

Sounds like you had a hoot!

Okay, took a few pics. Thought I took more. I was just too busy looking!

I think people need to see pics of the factory. This is what you see when you pull down the road. Escape trailers almost as far as the eye can see. The 21' in the middle was on it's way to the owner before we left the factory. Vicki and I were so busy, we didn't even see it move out!

Inside the door is this map, with stick pins showing all the builds. I know one is going to be added... someone in The Netherlands is getting an Escape 5.0 Classic! The very last build of the classic. Cool Beans for then!

Check this out! A special corner cubbie for us new 5er people. A true Reace well-thought out build. I was wondering where I was going to store the TV remote and my bedtime reading glasses. Now I know! . The woodwork is fair better than my lame picture shows and there's a cubbie in each loft corner. Sorry Camping World, I won't need your "catchalls" now!

Alf, I took this picture standing outside the building and looking through an open doorway. The factory was off-limits at the time. I'm glad they didn't shoo me away! You're going to love, love, love your trailer. I wish I could have seen inside, but the workers were busy getting it ready for you!

I should tell you, these 5ers looking like they're really tall out of the wheel wells. The tires are off the ground and the trailers are all on rollers so they shove them around the factory without a tug.

Now, y'all gotta wait for Vicki....

Your excitement is contagious, Donna. I am getting it too, and I don't even have one on order.

Glad that you and Vicki got to get in a trip to Chilliwack. I have been to their old facility a couple times, but never to the new one....yet!

Google Maps works fine - I just put in the address from the ETI website (43851 Industrial Way, Bldg B., Chilliwack, BC, V2R 4L2) to check and the directions are flawless.

On the other hand, I just did the same thing in Mapquest, and it's correct, too. Sane with Bing...

I showed up in the morning recently on my way past Chilliwack, and they were happy to accommodate me... if I could come back at noon, while the factory was on lunch break. It is not safe or productive to have people looking around at peak activity times, and I understand and respect that.

HI Donna, We are in our hotel waiting for tomorrow and the pick up. We did drop by and got to do a quick look over of our 21. You had taken a picture of it yesterday though the fence. We got to talk to Reese, Tammy and Kim, all very nice folk.
We are very happy with the results.

John

Oh John, that was YOUR trailer at the front of the gate? I thought an owner picked it up while Vicki and I were inside the factory. It's beautiful.. (I got to peek in the door!). Enjoy every moment of orientation, take lots of notes and plan to have a wonderful first night (and many, many others).

Pictures, you will share pictures of that first night camping won't you...
