Fire on the Okanagan Connector

When we were returning from 5 days of camping in the Okanagan we witnessed a fire on September 23 which consumed a motor home. The fire burned for about two hours, stopping westbound traffic on the Okanagan Connector. More photos of our trip here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brian_v...144201/detail/

Re: Fire on the Okanagan Connector

A couple of years ago I witnessed a large old motor home go up in flames and lots of really black smoke in the Walmart parking lot next to where I work. I would imagine there is a slight hole in the ozone layer just above this area as the smoke was unbelievable.

Macrae:

You are right, there was a lot of smoke with this fire also. At a distance it looked like a paving plant. We arrived about half an hour after the fire started, by which time there were two police cars stopping traffic. There were violent explosions when the propane tanks exploded. It took another 40 minutes after we came before fire trucks arrived from West Kelowna. It took about another hour before the flames were out and the road was reopened. Not much left of the motor home.
