Love my Aeropress, 4 of their "cups" = one of mine.
For the most part, I camp in National Forests and consider coffee grounds to be biodegradable. I wouldn't do that in a campground.

The aeropress can make the equivalent of 1 to 4 espresso shots in one go, which you then supplement with hot water to suit your taste. So, depending on how strong you like your coffee, it can make from 1 to 4 cups of coffee in one press.
It's fast enough that you can press a few times quite quickly and fill a carafe or thermos.
The only thing I don't really like about the aeropress is that it uses a lot of coffee, and it has to be ground quite fine so if I'm grinding the beans right there I spend more time grinding the coffee than actually drinking it!

Yardsale,
The aeropress is not at all like the Keurig. It is basically a hand-held version of an espresso machine. It uses manual pressure to force water through a compressed puck of finely ground coffee.

I've only used it a couple of times now, but so far I'm impressed.

The Aeropress is all we use now for camping: easy to use, compact, easy to clean and the coffee is terrific.

I need a "like" button for that Donna!!
This past trip I used the little stove top espresso maker as Doug has quit drinking coffee...a nice splash of cream and I had my nice strong coffee--only 8 ounces but good enough... If I added a bit of hot water that was okay too...
Easy to clean up and the nice puck of coffee emptied nicer than the Melita pour over...

Aeropress sounds great. As you say, not at all like Keurig. We will stick with our old school cone filter as I like dual purpose items and we can use this tent camping away from the trailer. Same goes for our dishes and utensils.

Aero Press and Melitta
We use both Melitta and the Aero Press. The Aero Press being fairly new, bought it on the recommendation of this forum members and I do agree it does make a smooth cup of coffee!
We have a Kuerig and by using the Melitta, you can add as much coffee as you want to make it stronger than the k cups plus it's fresher. The Kuerig will stay home and a kettle will come with us!

Same here. Yes, very good indeed. Smooth and rich. We decided to put it away though because it was a pain to use. We drink alot of coffee, and it was just very time consuming and a hassle to use compared to our old method. Perhaps we don't have the 'technique down', but for us it was simpler and less stressful to go back to our drip machine and a thermal carafe.

I just ordered one of these and can hardly wait for it to arrive. Not sure how I will check the temperature. What I want to get is s carafe to press right into so the wife and I won't have to argue over who gets the first cup in the morning.[emoji37]

I've been using the Aeropress for a couple years now and love the coffee from it. My one biggest improvement was the s filter by S Filter for AeroPress - Ultra Fine Stainless Steel Coffee Filter. This is a mesh ss filter and allows the oils to get through without any coffee grounds. It gives a better taste than either a press or Melitta paper filter. I thought that the clever dripper was tops, but this is the absolute best coffee I've ever made.

Donna, if you ever give up on your current avatar, I suggest that photo would be an appropriate replacement...
