Fleetwood goes down

This was taken from Fleetwood's webpage

The filing also facilitates the closing of Fleetwood's travel trailer division, which the company has commenced. This division accounted for losses of $65.3 million in 2007 and $16.8 million in 2008. The division closing affects three manufacturing facilities and two service facilities employing approximately 675 people. The company is also laying off an additional 65 corporate associates.

Wow!! What a mess! Everyone needs to relax and go camping....let this recession thing calm down while we sit beside the campfire listening to it crackle...

Re: Fleetwood goes down

Hi: Reace... I couldn't agree more "Everyone needs to relax and go camping". Some of us are lucky enough to be able to "Escape".

Something to be said about not getting too big for your britches?

If you ever have to hire a VP communications, you'll know you took the wrong fork. After all, Tammy and Reace are the Escape, and the Escape sells itself.

I raise a beer to your continued success.

Re: Fleetwood goes down

With Fleetwood's numbers from the last few years showing huge losses, even though the economy was much stronger than today, shows that their issues went beyond problems this recession caused. There was obviously problems there already that they never properly addressed. No doubt this recession was just a final blow.

One thing that I see as a problem with some of these trailer manufacturers is the there are too many of the larger companies, offering way too many products. I believe that if they had of focused their production on less base models, and ones driven by consumer demand they would have done better.
