Well, it shouldn't be quite as loud, because the compressor is not running.

Also, a portable (or in-wall) heater is down where heat is needed, instead of blowing hot air where the air is already warmest.

No. You need to look at thermostat at the perfect angle to see. There is auto first then press start again and cool ac press on again and furnace heat, press on again and heat strip shows then press on again and it goes to off.
Pain in the butt trying to see thermostat.

As far as I know, our AC does not have a heat strip. No sign of one on the impossible-to-see (as whatme34 says) Dometic thermostat control (and no controls on AC unit, either).

Our Casita had an AC heat strip, which came in really handy when stopping overnight in cold weather, if we had shore power; no need to use the propane furnace.

Is Escape still offering the Coleman Mach 10 NDQ? What's the AC unit we have on our E21, and the heat strip works well, and isn't too loud as the fan runs on low when in heat mode.

Ah, nevermind. It looks like you're thinking about adding it to your existing 2019...

We had ordered the optional heat strip for our 2020 19', but Escape said it didn't come in, so it wasn't installed. I tried to order one through Dometic, but they say our model A/C (640310CXX1C0) is not compatible with a heat strip.
Guess I got lucky in that sense, because as loud as the A/C is, I wouldn't want to hear that noise in cold weather too.
I ended up taking Jim's advice and mounted an electric heater in the wall of our 19', just below the propane furnace, where plenty of empty space existed. Nice and quiet!

We have the heat strip on our trailer, but other than testing it out, have never used it. On our recent (March) trip to Zion it was still winter most of the way, and below freezing most nights, our portable electric heater and good sleeping bag worked OK, but at one place I read the small print and they forbad the use of portable electric heaters. Not sure how common that might be, but did seem a bit mean considering it cost $61US per night.

Interesting, I have a 2022 E19 with the 11k Dometic 640310CXX1CO and it came from ETI with the heat strip installed...........though I prefer the cube approach as well.

Appears to be this:

Dometic 3314998.000

I did the same in my E19 with the wall heater, also installed a Houghton 9.5 AC, both are nice and quiet.

I thought about getting that one, but Dometic told me that model doesn't have an optional heat strip. The label confirms it so I wonder what the real issue is.
