Or maybe a 518.2B in centimeters
Or a 5182B in millimeters
Isn't metric easy?

I am much faster now -- I average "25" instead of "15". and I go much farther now too. When I rode across the country, my blog reported all my distances in kilometers, which drove dear wife crazy until she finally figured them out.
I would be very happy to have a 6.5 meter trailer rather than a 21...

And yet, for every US child of the 60s who's 'miffed' that we haven't gone metric, there's 4 or 5 like me who thank the Lord. LOVE good ole fashioned cups, pints, quarts, gallons, feet, yards, inches, miles, etc, and I'd probably shoot myself if I had to force this old brain to start converting now.

It really is simple to learn, if you gave it a chance, as measures are so directly proportional.
Just one unit of measure for length, not fractions, inches, feet, yards, miles, etc. Just metres.
Just one unit of measure for volume, no ounces, cups, pints, gallons, etc. Just litres.
One unit of measure for weight, no ounces (again), pounds, tons, etc. Just grams.
0° to 100° from freezing to boiling, much simpler than 32° to 212°.
1 gram of water = 1 cubic centimetre = 1 millilitre
1 calorie is the energy to raise one gram of water through 1 degree Celsius
Just a few quick examples from me tired wee heed.
'splain how imperial units could be easier than that.

Its not that imperial units are easier-- they clearly aren't. Its about familiarity. I know what a mile or a yard or a foot is by eye. I can estimate a gallon of liquid probably within an ounce or two, and I know what 72 degrees feels like vs 74. Its what I know and it works.
In many ways its like language. If you were born and raised speaking English, it would never occur to you that it's a rather difficult language.

I didn't find it all that hard to make the conversion. I am sure that owning foreign cars starting in the early 1970s, and being a cyclist had a lot to do with that. I got used to the notion of wrench sizes in mm, and when listening to cycling races via the shortwave you always heard that today's stage was "160km" or that there was only 10 km to the finish. At first I thought in inches and miles and then converted to cm and km. After a while I started thinking in cm and km and then converting
I do find it harder with temperatures, but I am still working on that. Fortunately many modern devices allow you to display in either system, so my little indoor outdoor thermometer displays the temperature in centigrade rather than fahrenheit.

I had to look it up. Sounds a LOT better (but what doesn't) than lutefisk.
And I thought thread drift was a requirement of ALL internet discussions.

I wonder what it would cost to renumber all the Interstate highway exits in the USA with kilometers? Currently exit 61 means the exit is 61 miles from the beginning of the roadway (reset to zero at each state line.)

Just need to move the exits 5/8 of each mile.

Speaking of which, we have a mile marker and exit number on I-10 of 880 in Orange. 880 miles from El Paso. The highest numbered mile marker in North America.
