hitch weight with full water tank.......

Hi all..

I did some hitch weight test on my Scamp 13' yesterday....220 lbs, (one propane tank+battery).......I'm in process to buy a Escape 17' plan A......I'm curious to know what I will had on scale if you fill up the fresh water tank......250 lbs is the curent dry hitch weight.....but I want to know if someone did the test i did. I will avoid to use the distribution weight if it possible....I think the water tank will help reducing the hitch weight ? On the Scamp i will lost 20lbs on the hitch....( 12 gallons of fresh water ). I would appreciate if someone could answer....or do the test for me.....

Thanks Pat

Re: hitch weight with full water tank.......

Weights measured yesterday on the BC Ministry of Highways self-serve scale at Midway. All masses (weights) are +/- 20 kg (50 lb), since there is some subtraction involved, and the scale sometimes tared at 10 kg. I will shortly post a more detailed analysis in the Documents sub-forum.

Escape 17B with full fresh water, empty grey and black water tanks. Two near-full propane bottles. Lots of stuff in the trailer.

Hitch weight - 140 kg (310 lb)
Axle weighty - 1100 kg (2420 lb)
Total trailer weight - 1240 kg (2730 lb)
Hitch weight as percent of trailer weight - 11%
