Hold on to your LED's and other storm-related info

Hi,
It's NuthatchBC again.

I have some friendly advice about weathering a lightning storm while on the trail. We are currently in eastern PA. We experienced a rip-snort'n lightning storm two nights ago that nearly set us "dead in the water". A lightning strike hit just in front of our tow vehicle and put out four LEDs at the front of our Escape. The LEDs weren't even on! It also put out the one that was on in the back of the trailer. At first we thought we smelled the ozone of the lightning, but then realized that it was coming from the electrical box in the trailer. Of course, you know it was pouring rain....and there was Doug out trying to reset the breaker on the hydro post. It didn't work.

All's well, the electrical wasn't harmed. We hardly ever use the front LEDs anyway. We won't be asking for thunderstorms on the trail anymore. We'll happily enjoy them in the comfort of the front porch at home.

So our sage advice is: turn off your LEDs and/or totally unplug from the power until the storm subsides.

By the way, it is blistering hot and incredibly humid here. Kind of like the chill factor in reverse: high temp + high humidity = higher temp!

We've settled on a name for our 17' Escape: Kermodei Kamper
