How do you organize your cupboards in a 21??
After many years camping in a Casita, I thought I had organizing cupboards down pat. However, I'm open to new ideas. Has anyone found, besides plastic boxes, of which I have many, store bought items that they have found useful/fabulous/exciting/? Has anyone come up with ways to keep dishes and small bottles from sliding around? I am lining the galley cupboards with Ikea shelf liners (these are great) and maybe this will help, but looking for more ideas!
Here is my idea for spices: I bought a piece of sheet metal, Ned rounded off the corners, and I painted it with flat black paint. I purchased round spice holders, magnetized on the back. To see if they will hold, I slammed the cupboard door a couple of times and they seem to hold. Otherwise, I can put on stronger super magnets. I will send another picture separately as I don't know how to post two pictures at a time!

Carla,
I copy the picture I wish to post to my desktop and when I hit go advance button below it takes you to another screen where you can open a small screen where up to 4 pictures can be load, you click each one from your desktop, hit "upload", wait until you see pictures have been uploaded and you are done.

I like to keep my spices in the containers they came in. Don't have to transfer to decorative or magnetic containers and they come with labels, don't have to label them.

Yep, and store them in one of the lower cabinets. There's a shallow one under our fridge that works perfectly for this -- cooler, and away from any heat source. Two things will shorten the useable life span of spices -- light and heat. The clear glass spice racks designed to be above the stove might look nice, but it's a terrible way to store spices. Not to mention that quality spices are very expensive.

Because I wasn't able to post my pictures, you couldn't see that the spices are stored on the inside of the door of the closet. No heat, no light. Besides I like to buy my spices in bulk at food co-op type stores. That way the spices are fresh, less expensive and don't have to store glass bottles, But everyone has their own ideas. And I like to use unused spaces if I can. And save space for great wine, fine bourbon, etc...

My comment wasn't directly about your spice storage Carla Jean -- just about how to store spices in general. I've seen some glass jar types with a magnetic strip that's designed for mounting under a cabinet or on the wall, and although they're sharp looking, it's not really the best way to store such things. Good to hear you store in a closet.

I try to limit my spices to salt/pepper/garlic powder as travel seems to make most spices to form into hard pieces. Plus I cook my spicy food with onions which always brings out the flavors. Anyone up for some poutine??

Well, I didnt want to beat this to death! Spices, and how we store them, is really not important in the whole scheme of things. I was just rather proud of my work!
Looking forward to any other ideas for cupboard storage.
