Inquiring Minds Need to Know

After orientation yesterday and hooking up the '21 for the first time, my truck (Tundra) tailgate hit the electric jack. So at the first campground I rotated the jack head to make clearance. Before I took the jack apart, I wanted to kill power to the jack, so i shutoff the 'battery cutoff switch'. I noticed the lights still worked and so did the jack. Five minutes later, the lights went off, so I'm guessing there was a little service charge for the lights. However, the jack still worked. I found the fuse and pulled that. So is the electric jack directly wired to battery and not effected by 'battery cut off switch'? thanks

The factory installed power jack wire typically runs to the junction box under the front of the frame where the tow vehicle power cord connects. The battery isolator switch won't affect it. In my case I installed a power jack aftermarket, and wired it directly to the batteries inside the front storage box rather than to the junction box. Either way, turning the battery isolator switch off won't have any effect - it'll still have power.

Try pulling the plug out of the tow?

Thanks. I did see the junction box next to fuse. ETI still installs the Lippert LCI jack so u can rotate head. Tow vehicle and shore power were not connected.

I know when I added our jack power head ,it was very tight to the propane cover . I saw other manufacturers turned the head of the jack . So I turned the head , and actually can watch the leveling better . Don’t know why I thought it needs to be straight ahead ? Pat

Glad a simple twist of the head worked for you.

Which reminds me that the after market power jack that I installed is on sale again for the next few days. At under $100 Canadian, it is a reasonable deal.

I hooked mine up to the distribution box for power but I also added an extra switch to make it more difficult for thieves to steal the trailer. It’s hard to take the trailer if you can’t lift it or have to drive around with the jack down.

You can see the post I did on the subject here. http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...tml#post271270
