Insulation

We have our 19 on order and are debating the need for the spray foam insulation. We don't plan to winter camp but concerned with driving through high altitude low temp areas. With short term exposure might we risk hose damage from freezing?

It also protect from the heat also, insulation is good for cold and heat. Plus it protects the entire underside of your trailer.

We do not have the spray foam insulation and picked up our Escape in early January. Ice and snow from Chilliwack to mid California - never had a problem with anything freezing.

We decided against the spray foam because it makes repairs really difficult.

While I don't think you need to worry about cold temps at night as long as it warms during the day, it is nice to not have to worry about it being cold for a day or 2. You do still need to be concerned about the dump valves freezing so it's not a cure all. For prolonged cold you need the heat pads, a heated hose, and 120vac.

I've been whacked a couple times underneath at highway speeds, one 2x? and one roadgater. Tore up the insulation a bit but no damage to the tanks. The only downside is it's a pain to remove if you need to work on something down there, which is not a small matter.

We elected against the spray foam insulation. If we add insulation, it will be using the approach taken in this thread.
