I have been looking at places within 6 hours of my home for a weekend Escape get-a-way and clicked on the "Campground Report" on this page and under West Virgina found a hidden gem. There is a KOA attached to a Day's Inn Conference Center that is open in the winter. They have full hook up sites available with water/sewerage/cable tv/internet for less than $40. In addition you have full use of the facilities of the Conference center, swimming pool,spa,exercise room and showers?
Plus there is a bar with happy hour and a restaurant open daily 6am to 11pm.
So, I can camp in my Escape with electric heat and tv and wifi, I can build a fire outside and watch the snow fall. If I choose I can have access to warm showers after swimming a few laps and exercising. If I get thirsty I can down a few on my way to a prime rib dinner. Now is this camping or what!!

Devil Dog;
Just what it says;
A sour toe is an amputated toe preserved in Alchohol, when you order the drink, the preserved toe is placed in it.
You are to drink it all down letting the toe touch your lips, but not swallowing the toe.

I think they are on toe number 5 or 6 because in the past some people have swallowed the toe.
When the toe is swallowed the word goes out for someone to donate a new toe, to be used in future drinks

Doug

OK, a "Sour Toe" is a stiff drink with a amputated toe caused from frost bite at the bottom of the shot glass. The toe must touch your lips and then you are a honorary member of a elite club. Dawson City Yukon is the place to do this. But you must not swallow the toe. I would suggest a few beers prior to attempting this. And a few friends to press you on will help.

Here you go
Flatwoods KOA | Camping in West Virginia | KOA Campgrounds

If you ever get on this side of the Big River, let me know, maybe we could have mini Escape rally there. I'm planning on going there in February, as soon as they call for some snow.

Jim,

I see no fishing mentioned. How can this be considered a viable camp site?...

Thanks for the invite.We plan to do a East Coast trip in a year or so but it will be in the summer or early fall.
I checked out the KOA site and is very nice. I use a web page Called www.vpike.com
If you have a address just type it in and click street view. It will give you a birds eye view. try your home or work address for starters I'm know you'll be impressed. You can zoom and pan even move up and down the street with a bit of practice.

My husband transports his motorcycle on the back of our Escape.

We have a special roll-on rack that locks into the trailer's rear hitch ...

However his bike probably weighs less than a 1/3 of a GoldWing!
