Jack stands

On our way to pick up our Escape and stopped in at a dangerous place ... Camping World. Saw one of these Trailer Jack Stand - Rook Industries D10-258 - Tongue Jacks - Camping World and it made us think ... is this something that would work or are there better stands? We'll be using paved campgrounds on our way home but maybe we should have this on hand.

Here is our solution:

We use a piece of 2 by 4 on top of a few Lynx Levelers. We use the Levelers also for handling side to side ground differences.

Yeah, they work OK...but so does a block of wood! Ask Reace to give you a 2 x 4 or 4 x 4 piece, and use that on the way home to see if you really need to go upscale. He'll probably give you some anyway for the stabilizers.

Bob, thanks. We had decided that we would stop at a lumber store; however, asking Reace for a few pieces is a good idea.

Brian, thanks for the photo as it really helps to see your setup. We will wait until we're home to see how we want to proceed rather than make a quick decision now.

We're headed for Chilliwack today to do some sightseeing before our orientation on Wednesday morning. In Everett, WA, right now and watching the news briefings on the landslide in Oso. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are certainly with those impacted by this slide which, it turns out, isn't too far from here. Even worse, rain is due here by tomorrow ...

I have a similar stand, which I have used because my jack has neither a foot nor a wheel, and due to damage by the previous owner a replacement foot would not likely fit. I have the plastic leveling blocks, and use them under the wheels and stabilizing jacks, but for the tongue jack this stand is lighter, more compact, more convenient... and leaves the blocks for use where they are needed.

We have both the item you are looking at and a wheel that attaches to the lift.

For long term storage we use the stand but having the wheel is a big plus when hocking up ..

Hello from Chilliwack! We went by the factory today and noticed that they have all their accessories on the wall so we looked long and hard at the plastic leveling blocks and the wheel. We'll be making a decision on them tonight. Also saw their new "telescoping broom" and the Combination Station which I just may have to add to our growing collection of "things". Getting out of there is going to cost us ...

Just ordered a replacement today from CW.... accidentally left mine behind at a recent stop. Also bought their plastic w/handles equalizer jack stands, and a new two-tier leveler, and an in-line water filter, plus an outdoor mat and a fridge deodorizer. Easy to spend $100+, but hey- you need this stuff!

My sentiments exactly!! On our way up here, we stopped by the Costco in Salem OR and picked up a couple "Miracle Mats" (nearly half the price than their on-line store). Then on to Marysville, WA, to the Hypervent Factory where we picked up the Hypervent and a mattress topper. Now ETI. My husband is afraid to stop anywhere on the way home!
