There are a ton of threads that discuss the fridge issue. I've added links to a few of them below.

As a Reader's Digest version, if you go with the 4.3CF Fridge, it will be the single door RML8551. Many owners have reported performance problems when the ambient temperatures are warmer. Escape has been working with Dometic on a redesigned door for this fridge that supposedly helps performance, but it's hard to quantify how much better, and I'm not sure you'd get the 'new and improved' door if you went with the 4.3CF.

If you go with the 6.7CF Fridge, it will be the two-door RMD 8555, which replaces the single door RML 8555. We have it, and have camped in conditions where the ambient temperature was in the high 80's, and one day at 90 degrees. The performance has been good -- much better than the performance reported by owners of the single door 6.7CF.

In my opinion the better option right now, cooling wise, is the larger 6.7CF RMD 8555. I'd just go with that.

Nice to know, thanks.

Also, how does the gray water tank drain. My Casita was quite slow. I have heard about adding a vent. Any thoughts.

There is a vent. Drains just fine.

Our black tank empties in 20-30 seconds or so. The grey takes about 3-4 minutes if it's full. It's vented as Glenn points out, to prevent vapor lock, but it's going to drain slower because the pipe diameter is much smaller.

If ETI would put out an options sheet of everything they can do or have done in the past, this might make choosing options easier or harder. I don't know, but it is hard to get everything right. It's probably a lot less thinking to order a Casita. Loren

Dear 17B owners who are going to the Rally. Please don't pull your green balloons down when you see me coming. I'm armed with ETI's Build Sheet and my additional three pages of questions! Only two months to get my sheet in and cannot wait to see some of these options "live!"

Certainly welcome, but don't expect to see much in my 17B.

Ellen, you are more than welcome to stop by and visit Ten Forward, green balloon or not. I'll be camping so the poor 5er may not be pristine neat/clean. Just know that!

We have been in our new 19' for 5 months since April.
perhaps raise your dining area 3 - 4 inches? It's an option and really makes looking out the window nicer.
We got the screen room. It's nice, but there are others one can buy which also allow for zipping up of solid plastic walls, for when it's cold, rainy, and windy. In retrospect, we wouldn't have got the Escape screen room for the reason it's not 'convertable'.
Lastly, put in LED lights for all lights! They're great.

I second raising the dinette. It's easy to do during the build but harder after the fact. You should sit in a 19 and think about window height. Your mileage may vary but the seats were too low for us.

Thanks.

Raising the dinette 4" is one of the best options we added. It will also add 4" of depth in storage to the benches, since the raised floor doesn't extend under the benches. Now add a Springfield pneumatic 3 stage pedestal (self installed in about 20 minutes) and you have one great setup.

Just wondering why the 3 stage single pedestal is such a big improvement, especially if one never intended to make the dinette into a bed? Thanks

Personal preference, if you stay with the stock set up there is no need for any change.
