Charlie and Lucy. You are going to be pretty close to where I grew up when you cross US 63, and I have been on I 80 more times than I can count. When you get to Kearney, Nebraska, watch for a huge arch that spans the interstate. If you like history, going inside and seeing the displays is very interesting plus you see the traffic whizzing by underneath. Loren

Pretty cool Loren! We are currently near Des Moines. Are aiming for North Platte NE today. Will look for Kearney on the map and see where we are time wise! Thanks for the tip. We both like history!

Nebraska sightings

Charlie and Lucy.
In addition to counting campers, your assignment today is to count pickup trucks between Kearny and North Platte with coyote rifles hanging in the back window. If you don't see at least 10, you are not looking. If you are coming back the same way and camping, the Windmill State Park between Grand Island and Kearny is nice enough. It's just off the interstate but as flat as the country is, it's quiet, since nobody needs to use the Jake Brake. They just fly on by at about 80 mph. Good luck today, it will start to look like the west soon.

Good going, Charlie and Lucy! Wish we could have seen you in Iowa but we are still in Canada bringing our 21' back. Saw more great places and are at a beautiful provincial park, Buffalo Pound near Moose Jaw.

Have a great trip! Will look for your photos.

Just lost a whole paragraph on my iPhone. Will try again!!
We've been hotelling it for several reasons, mostly because I 'm not a tenter! Lol!!
Just made reservations tonite in Ogallala.
Little side line...we've been counting campers of all kinds: Sunday-95, yesterday-204, today we hit 90 around noon and the 90th was finally a FG... A little Casita! We were thrilled because we finally saw a FG!!
Thanks for all your good wishes... It's been a great trip so far. Truck is comfortable and that is important!
Happy camping everyone!!

Lucy

Day 5. Started out of Coalville UT almost by Salt Lake City.
We made a pit stop at the Bonneville Salt Flats and are continuing on. So far Tuesday we saw the most TTs 212. In that bunch we saw 1 casita and one other FG trailer. Might have been a Boler or Trillium. They were going too fast in the other side. We saw 187 yesterday and saw one Casita! So far today we have seen 1 Casita. Not one Escape yet! But we know we will at some point!

Yes. Bonneville was amazing! Looks like we can see haze in the distance now... Maybe from fires? We're headed towards Reno on i80. Anyone see a fire map?

You probably already know this, but... I-5 between Olympia and Tacoma will be a nightmare tomorrow (Monday) afternoon (end of holiday weekend). Get past that section as early as you can.

That part of I5 can be a bitch any time of day or week or month or hour or .... It doesn't have to be a holiday weekend for it to come to a complete halt.

I was quite amazed that my pull through the Seattle area at 8am this past Sunday was peaceful and serene.

Actually, I find the traffic won't lighten up till you are past Everett. If I can, I try to transit that area (Chehalis / Centralia to Everett) between 1:00 am - 3:00am. At these times probably you'll find the traffic light .... it's worth it to stay up past bedtime to transit this area.

Yes. I grew up in a small town called Tooele (pronounced too-will-uh). On weekends, particularly in the summertime, we'd go often go out to Bonneville and see how fast we could go on a motorcycle. Fun times.

First night's goal is Erie PA!
What day are you picking up Casa Blanca? Isn't it exciting? We are getting our trailer on Monday, 9/14, after being on the road the past few weeks enjoying camping at Crater Lake (I'm getting too old for this), and then visiting family in Canada. Stayed in Whistler a few days and loved the scenery, hiking, and window shopping. We are now in Seattle vacationing with friends for a week and then off again to Chilliwack.

Sorry our paths won't cross this trip.
