Lynx Levelers

One disadvantage of the high lift axle is you need to place something under the stabilizers if they are to provide support. Up until now, I've been using chunks of 2 x 6 pressure treated wood and having solved the TV wall-mount, I had to move on to tackle other issues.

So, I bought a set of 10 Lynx Levelers ( basically large Lego blocks ) on the theory that they would be lighter and stronger. I've yet to weigh them and my wood blocks for comparison so I don't know which is lighter, but the Lynx come with a three year warranty and my 2 x 6 blocks do not.

Of course, the nylon bag the levelers come in is not covered under warranty. However, should one of the Lynx Levelers develop a crack, all I have to do is ship it to them at my expense, and if they determine that it failed under NORMAL CONDITIONS ( unspecified ), they will replace it. All I have to do is send them $5 for shipping and handling.

Hi: gbaglo...I thought I wanted a set of Lynx...as my kids had such great fun with Duplo 'n Lego and Lynx looked like adult entertainment. Now I'm not so sure, even with a 3yr. warranty!!!
I use short lengths of cedar 4X4's attached to PT'd 1" deck boards for levelers/stabilizers. The extra height is = to the axle lift. Alf

I doubt you'd ever need to use the warranty, but if one of them were to break or crack it makes no sense to make a claim. The pack of 10 and the bag cost me $49 ( $42 on etrailer.com ). So one leveler is worth about $5. To get it replaced under warranty I have to send them $5 and I have to ship it to them at my expense.
These guys must work for the government.

I've purchased two bags of lego blocks more than five years ago, so far no problems whatsoever. Of course I'm south of the border in a no-sales-tax state and my purchase was cheaper than any of you (so far). I use them for all kinds of stuff... even to lift a bed frame off the tarp so I could paint. Easy to carry, if they get dirty, I just hose them off and allow to dry before sticking back in the bag. I'm happy with the purchase. YMMV

I just carry about a dozen 10" treated 2x6 boards, cut from scraps. I use what I need for leveling under the tires, the rest I stack up under the stabilizers where needed the most, dependent upon the lay of the site. They are not very heavy, and stack nice for storage.

I looked at the Lego block type, but just about had an trouser accident when I saw the price for a few pieces of moulded plastic.

But something that is free from left over scraps is tough to put a price on.

Instructions with the Lynx warn you not to use them in the upside down position. I don't suppose that's an issue with 2X6.
Actually, I know it isn't an issue since that was what I was using before I was overcome with the urge to buy something.
I quit smoking on Boxing Day and ever since I've felt that I needed to throw money away...

In that case, you can afford the Lynx Levelers.

If you smoked say a pack a day, you have saved $80,300 over 22 years. And, you would have had to earn - say $150,000 before taxes so you could pay the SIN taxes on the smokes.

So give yourself a pat on the back.

Hi: All... I got ya's all beat I quit in 1971 and a lg. king size pack was $0.65 but I still don't think I'll spring for the Lynx warranty or no... but I wouldn't refuse a good Scotch :P !!! Alf

The problems I find with the lumber approach to trailer leveling:

the wooden pieces are heavy
they take up a lot of space
they soak up water
they are not as easy to clean as plastic

I have seen these "Lego" pieces, and wished I had some. But I will continue to use wood for the sake of saving money.

Interesting. We have been using 1 x 6s to level our pop-up, and in much longer lengths than you describe, but I can see that the shorter lengths would be better to store. They don't scoot apart when you drive up on them? Do you create a continuous path of boards that extends under both axles on the side you're adjusting?

I use a combination of the Lego blocks & 2X6's. A couple of problems with the Lego blocks - on soft ground they tend to sink, at least more than the 2X6. After 4 months of use, the edges of a couple of them are "frayed" for lack of a better word so that they don't lock together. I just put those on top, but I do wonder how long they will last...
