Manual Awning Pics

For those of you who might be curious about the manual awning. I just picked up my trailer with that option. It's the Carefree model. Rolls out pretty easily, the legs are stored in the front channel. Pull them out, extend them and then set then in the seats on the trailer or anchor them to the ground.Click image for larger version

Sweet. Looks like from the pics that manual one will allow for slope and front - back tilt adjustments that the classic awing allows.

It does seem pretty adjustable from the playing around I did with it today between rain showers. I do know that as it is rolled out you can't open the trailer door until you have the support legs out. It tends to drop pretty quickly once you have it out three or four feet.

Good option....
I like that it has the channel to allow you to use a screen room if you want.
The electric awning lacking that feature is a deal killer for us.

Also love the arms attaching to sides . Besides a screen room even a sun screen attaching in the grove . Pat

The electric awning does have a channel - however unless one disables the automatic retract feature and figures out a way to attach the side pieces it is still not real compatible with a screen house addition - just thought you might want to know it does have the channel though. 😀

Not sure if the screen room will work with this model as there are no horizontal supports you have with the old style manual awning.

That also means there's no way to use an awning "deflapper" clamp.

Yes, and with the 12v model it retracts when it starts to flap...not so with the manual.

Paul, I am wondering if the power awning does have a screen room. When searching I found "myroom" which seems to be the dometic brand name for the screen room. For example, I was able to find instructions for a screen room for a power awning with a warning about turning off power so it didn't retract in windy conditions. However, the information was not obvious on the USA website but I did find reference to it there which led me to search more. It basically includes more brackets that go out from the trailer and down to the ground to support the screen room. If you find out more let us know. Given the number of parts and amount of setup, a Clam screen room looked quite appealing.

The problem with the awning screen room attached to your awning is it must be attached to an awning at it's highest peak, perfectly level, no tilt. I used mine once and never again.

The screen rooms are cumbersome imho. Just get a Clam if you want a screened area. Less than a minute to set up and take down, less bulky than the screen room, more effective and plenty of room.

Or even an inexpensive screen tent like our Coleman Instant. Works great for us and sets up in a couple of minutes

Hi Eric,
I did see the new Dometic screen room on a website somewhere. The new brackets to connect the rafters and legs seem like a good idea for awnings without vertical arms.
We do have a 12' Clam which is nice as long as you have a way to carry the 6' long bundle. We set it over the picnic table
If it's buggy enough to use the Clam, I also set the ETI bug net up under the awning....its light, pack small and goes up in a couple minutes. In really buggy conditions its nice to have a killing zone outside before you open the trailer door .

Also, what is a Clam, besides a bivalve mollusk?

Is this manual awning an option vs the power awning? If so, awesome. The less power options I can get the better.

It's the screen enclosure that was an option on the classics.
It slides into the channel in the front of your awning, attaches to the trailer sides with snaps and has a skirt that seals between the trailer & the ground.
