At home we sleep on a regular king mattress with a 3" memory foam topper. I love to get in when it's cool and the topper feels so firm. I get overheated easily so it does get a little warm but the comfort of the bed with the topper is well worth it.

We've only spent one night in our trailer so far (camping in our driveway hahaha). For that I borrowed a 2" topper from my sons double bed. Our trailer was so cold when we got in (maybe 58 degrees? not sure). But with the furnace on and our body warmth it warmed up quickly. We had an awesome sleep despite the double sized bed compared to our king at home.

My thoughts? Try it without. If you're on your 3 week return trip and feel you really need it, you can always get one from a local store or possibly have amazon deliver it to you at a future destination. And get a quality 2" topper if you do, nothing thicker is necessary and could be problematic.

Jill, have you tried a latex foam topper? Heavier and more costly than memory foam, but I love the feel, and one can sleep cooler.

For us, often when we go to bed, the trailer inside is down nearer freezing, maybe 5°C (41°F). Do you think memory foam at that temp would warm up fairly quick? I don't mind the warm up phase, as we have to do that regardless of what we sleep on, I only worry that the denser memory foam may take longer.

And you are right about buying quality. I spend 5-6 hours of every day sleeping, and want it to be quality sleep. Whenever I sleep on a crappy mattress, I end up getting a crappy sleep.

I have not issues with dropping $1k CAD on a mattress in order to get a good nights sleep, I just don't want to spend that on something I don't like.

That is the one good thing about the Casper or Leesa, is that you have 100 days to try it, and you get full refund if you don't want to keep it. Just make sure you get it before an extended trip with the trailer, and you will get a good chance to try it out.

mattress

I just now ordered a Casper mattress for our 21. We like the one we have at home after a few weeks and my lower back gave me a little tweek last night. The girl at Casper said it will be here in Palm Springs Thur. or Fri. and we are here until Monday morning so we'll get a chance to air it out and get couple of nights on it before heading home. I'll trim the corner down so it can not be returned. Since we are returning customers we got $50 off and I feel confident that we will want to keep it.

Just hope all your flats are inside and not outside the trailer....
Okay, once again I'm not getting the humor here. Do you mean flat beds? Our beds are all in use and aren't flat. and yeah, we don't want flat tires, if that's what you're referring to.

Otherwise, I'm clueless here.

In Canada a good "flat"is 24 beers, a bad one is a tire.

Aha. I didn't get it either. I don't know about beer but down here that is a rack (of soda pop).

Perhaps we can blame spellcheck. I've not a clue.

Thanks Doug. Learned something new, although I may not remember it since I detest beer. Not sure what it has to do with our choice of bed though.

Too funny, I was about to comment similarly. Dislike I could handle, but detest is just unnecessary harshness.

What next, disrespect my coffee and Scotch? LOL

Wwweeelllll, now that you mention it!

And one of my temp jobs years ago was working at Starbucks at their corporate headquarters when they were lots smaller and all of their offices were over the roasting machines. They were just coming out with their bags of whole beans (back before lots of people had grinders in their home) and kept asking me if I wanted samples and they just could not understand why I kept turning 'em down. It was alien to them that someone could not like coffee, I guess. But they paid really well for a temp job, so I suffered through the smell of the coffee, which I detest - oh wait, which I dislike.

Okay, if you don't like "detest", how about "I really, really, really, really don't like beer" (and coffee)? Does that work?

Never tried Scotch as I'm not much into the taste of alcohol, so I suspect I won't like it. Now if you're talking tequila, I'm there!

My comment about the select comfort was referring to the air pump/mattress set up. Some have and I had one of those mattress set up where your can make one side hard or soft and there is an air pump. well it seemed that after awhile one side was leaking and it got softer. I was referring to the mattress going flat inside versus the tire flat outside.....

Gotcha! And I know what you mean. Fortunately, we haven't had that problem. Yay!

No coffee!!!!
If I had to chose between coffee, beer and Scotch, something I would certainly hope I never have to do, coffee would have to win. It is a matter of survival. Not my survival either, but that of those around me in a uncaffeinated state.
