Moderators in general....

For those of us that do not understand, being moderator here on a public forum is a volunteer position. I have no vested interest in the forum nor are there any benefits. I merely do it as a desire to help others. I try to participate in discussions and joke around with others as well as provide assistance with the forum . I also try to help other members with technical issues with the Escape models based upon my ownership. I post pictures of changes as pictures always seem to help.
That said sometimes I may have to throw some water on the campfire when the discussion gets too heated. Although I may have added fuel to the fire but when asked to do so I'm required to take some sort of action when the flames get too high.
I hope everyone can understand that an edit or deletion of a post should mean nothing other than some rule may have been perceived as broken and a gentle nudge is being made to straighten the line. Thank you for reading this and understanding.

I, for one, appreciate the efforts of the moderators, even though this forum, IMHO, is more civil than FGRV. And the reason I appreciate their efforts is because I myself would not have the patience to do the job. So thank you Jim and all the rest of you.

I too appreciate the efforts of moderators. I wouldn't want to do it.
I think a lot of confusion in this, and many, forums comes from misunderstood acronyms, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Sometime a proof read is all that's necessary to clarify that one's thoughts or posts are on topic.

My philosophy is to let the conversation continue if there are no complaints, even if it strays off topic for a while. Much like around the camp fire.
When it clearly switches to another topic ( from tires to water filters for instance ), then I will split it into two.

I prefer this "approach" to the "delete" approach. It's not as "heavy handed" and it often brings a good deal of interest and humor to the topic(s).

Umm, that would be humour for you, silly.

But, I do agree, and try to do similar at FGRV myself, though with a MUCH more diversified crowd there.

"Diversified" is one way to put it. Had a fellow there try to argue that a Toyota 4-Runner was unstable at towing and not suitable for a Scamp or Casita. Seriously. Oh well...

So much good common sense here, without having to filter through all the posts with bad information. Now, if we could just get rid of 'certain' food discussions...

Humor vs. humour

Humor and humour are different spellings of the same word. Humor is preferred in American English, and humour is preferred in all the other main varieties of English. It's my understanding that after the American revolution a concerted effort was made the change the spelling of many words to create a distinction between American English and English English. Here in Canada we broke away peacefully and kept the English spelling.

I agree. This is one of only two forums that I regularly read, and both are for the same reasons: the positive attitude and helpfulness/sharing, and the fun.
Thank you, moderators, for your care and patience in nudging the rudder to keep us out of the stagnant pools, but allowing us into the inlets.
