Karen, that is one beautiful trailer. I'm going to see if Reece can do the little shelf by the door like you have. Yours is just gorgeous.

I had a 17b and it just seemed too big for me. I think this will be perfect.

THIT. Wish I could just take off and meet all of you, were ever you're at... I'm still working, Sigh. But I have an ETI build just waiting for retirement and that Bucket List and a mountain bike just waiting to run off the rubber...

It'll wait for us -- until about March 28th -- ish. Canyonlands, Arches, Dead Horse Point, Capitol Reef, The Grand Staircase, and maybe Bryce. Planning to hit them all! They're like sacred ground for me, since I grew up there. Alas, it's been decades since I've been back.

Oh boy. If you grew up in Moab, be prepared for a big shock. Not in a good way. But the beauty of the country is still there.

Yeah, I've been back to Moab a couple of times, but was just passing through on my way to Salt Lake. You're right that it's certainly changed over the years, especially with the explosion of mountain biking. I was raised northwest of there, but we frequented the Canyonlands all the time I was growing up. I'm looking forward to spending some actual TIME soaking up the beauty.

Depends. In the Oregon State Park system, if you have a trailer, you won't (typically) FIT in a tent site. Typically there's only room for the Tug. If you figure your overall length tent sites won't fit both tug and trailer in the parking area (they're expecting only the tug length). So... it "depends" it's less about what you have and more about total length.

You cannot necessarily be in a tent site. A place may put you there or not. Sometimes they may not want any trailers in the tent area. Then there are places that are full where they are glad to get you and have you with the tents if you can fit.

It would be kind of fun to see "Past Tents" in with the tents.

And if you grew up in Price, I really like that town. There's some very cool camping nearby and you'll never see a soul.

We're planning out pretty much the exact same trip, add in Mesa Verde and Kodachrome, Sept through November. If you have time afterwards I'd love to hear about the campgrounds you use, not many take reservations so it's first come first served and hope for the best..

Exactly. Alot depends on the campground policy. For the most part here in Texas, they segregate the tent sites from the trailer sites and even though you can "fit", never the twain shall meet. There's also a definite bias on the part of some campground owners against tenters. I always find it amusing when they look down on tent campers as 'lower class'. Don't they know that many tent campers are young people who can't afford an RV? They should welcome them to the camping lifestyle with open arms. These are future RV owners in many cases. If they want to have their rules, fine. Teach or encourage the tent campers rather than ban them.

I often tent camp even when I have a trailer. I like the simplicity and being able to just throw things in my vehicle and take off, plus I like getting way into the back country. I have a friend who uses cash for everything and tent camps exclusively, and I know he typically carries 5k with him. (He's retired and likes the thought of being able to just take off if he wants.)
