My 5.0TA is home!
Attached is a pic of her hitched up and ready to go at Bob's Burger in Sumas. Can't wait to start putting in my touches to make her uniquely mine.

I like the matching color graphics. Looks like a little squat in the rear, do you need to install air bags or something to level?

Looking good Ginger ...
Now we need you to get the Owners Map updated...I believe there are a few other new Escapes in Snohomish County that don't show up yet.

Nice looking rig, the truck and trailer look like they were made for each other. Enjoy!

Very nice looking! Congrats.
Did you need to get a slider hitch with the short box?

Very nice rig indeed! This future 5.0TA and short bed tow vehicle owner is also curious about the hitch set up and clearances. Thanks, Bob

Thanks for all the nice comments.
For those who asked about the short bed and hitch. Reace gave me the measurement I needed from the back window to the center of the hitch (can't remember what it was now). To mount the hitch in the correct spot, a non slider didn't quite make that measurement (a couple inches shy). So the hitch guy suggested a slider, which I had installed. After picking up the trailer, I'm not convinced I really needed the slider. Maybe if a was making a sharp 90 degree turn, it might be needed, but for normal stuff, it appears there is plenty of clearance. The hitch is a BW Companion.
As for the bed squat, I hadn't noticed it until it was pointed out. I'll have to check that out.

To actually get to 90 degrees, that spacing would need to be at least half the width of the trailer, or 44 inches... that's waaay back in a short-bed. I don't think there's any "might" about making a 90 degree angle without the slider - and you might not even make it with the slider - but enough angle certainly might be available.

Hi: gingerh... Just be careful when the truck is nose uphill and the trailer isn't. That situ closes the gap between the truck cab and trailer quite a bit!!! I have the bruises to prove it. We have the Husky EZRoller slider... and never use it either... but should have once!!!
Our truck squats about 1" when hooked up and it tows just fine. Alf

BP and Alf,
Thanks for the input. I'm new to the 5th wheel (previous trailers were tow behinds), so any and all input is appreciated.
Alf, mine towed like a wonder on the way home from ETI. Couldn't even tell it was there. Maybe I don't need to worry about my squat either. I'll need to check out the headlights to see if they're high.
Thanks,

Yes, when the opposing drivers kept flashing lights I realized mine were high. Other than that issue everything else looks beautiful.

Hi Alf
I was looking at these, will see how my 5 1/2 foot bed looks with the trailer hooked up.
Maybe they are cheaper then body work
Cheers Doug

Doug, just be careful. If you move to far back, you'll possibly hit the tailgate.

Hi: PGDriver... That's exactly what HokieEscape used on my recommendation. He had to get a replacement truck for his totalled Crew Cab Long Bed. Only used short beds available.
He's thrilled with the performance of it. It clamps onto the trailer pin so the hitch plate might need adjusting downward. For sure it's a lot less than a new truck!!! Alf RV Supplies, 5th Wheel Hitches and Electrical Plumbing by Tweetys $379.80 & free shipping in the US.
