I wholeheartedly agree with you Jim. I usually tell my wife the only reason to stop there is if I need some kerosene for the lantern.

I can always tell if I am approaching a community with a Tom Hortons by the increasing multitudes of discarded coffee cups in the road ditches on the way into town.

Some Canadians are rather unhappy with Tim Hortons for laying off some long-time employees after they merged with Burger King (or the same company, anyway). I think McStarbucks has better coffee (not saying it's all that good) and way worse goodies, but I prefer to buy from the indies, which are usually better than Timmies or McStars. There's a great little drive-through in Grand Forks, BC called Jitters, which says it all (and there's one in Logan, UT, but not related).
But back to the topic at hand - if you're a coffee drinker (i.e., addict), be sure to have whatever you need to make a good brew while on the road. Nothing better than being able to pull over, escape in the Escape, and make a nice cup of coffee or whatever you enjoy and take a break. Escape from Reality got it right.

Thanks so much for posting this list! I pick up just four days before you and now I've added quite a few more items I would not have thought about. Amazon order coming up. Convenient that my son lives in Portland - I will be shipping a lot there where I will visit for a week before going to Chilliwack. The back of the Jeep will be too full with dogs in crates, my clothes and cameras and stuff that I don't want to ship!
Question for all: I have purchased a small dehumidifier that I know I will need for Missouri summers. Do you think I will need it for the 8-day trip home down the coasts of OR and CA and across NM and AZ and TX to home?

I doubt you will need the dehumidifier, they are mainly used for storage issues, not while camping. Your o/h fan and/or a.c should take care of any humidity while in use.

SO true. I don't understand the popularity of Starbucks with their burnt beans. Sometimes beans can be roasted extra dark, to the point where the oil burns, creating a smoky flavor. Most folks call it "french roast". BUT, that should NOT apply to virtually every roast in the store. I spent a couple weeks recently in Bogota Colombia, and the coffee was fabulous. Not a smoke flavored or burnt bean in the house.

On a trip to Dominican Republic and another in a Mexico all-inclusive, I found the coffee tasted odd. Don't know exactly why. I opted for a beer.

Uh, the weather was hot, the beer was cold? Did coffee even stand a chance?

I think the blind attraction to Starbucks is a yuppie thing, Robert, because most of the coffee lovers I know can't stand Starbucks. One of my son-in-law's uncles worked for Dunkin' Donuts and was in charge of bean roasting. He said that whenever they over-roasted beans, Starbucks would purchase the whole batch. It actually came up during a conversation about coffee while we were all eating dinner this past Thanksgiving.

Okay, you can start throwing eggs, but I happen to like the burnt Starbucks roast. Then again, you have to know I went to college at night and drank coffee out a vending machine (for years).

Wonder why Tim Hortons is flogging their dark roast in all their commercials lately. And why Starbucks is flogging their "blonde" roast.
Maybe because people have different tastes.
All I know is my buddy and I picked up coffee at Tim's and twenty minutes later it tasted like it had been in a carafe for 24 hours. He slowed down and we dumped it out the window.

Baglo, perhaps you forgot an essential part of the Tim Horton's coffee order: "double double". With all that cream and sugar, it's hard to tell what the coffee tastes like.

That's what irked me, the first time I went into a Tim Horton's.
Apparently, they don't trust their customers to add sugar and cream according to preference.

Would never, ever throw eggs at you Donna, as everyone is entitled to their opinion AND their taste preferences. All I can say is I was in the army for many years and I would rather drink the sludge the mess sergeants imaginatively call coffee than that over-priced, burnt concoction that Charbucks markets. Incidentally, that stuff you got out of the vending machine wasn't coffee! As the adage states, you can dress up a pig and call it something else, but in the end, it is still a pig.

I drink my coffee black, with the only exception the odd cappuccino. I have never had Tim's Coffee that tasted stale, one of the things I like about it for a quick cup. No, it is nothing like the stuff I roast (says Jim, as he sips a freshly brewed Sumatran coffee roasted a few days ago), as I can alter the flavour profile to my liking, but it is hot and drinkable, and always fresh. There are also lots of small coffee shops that make way better coffee, I just have no clue where they are when on the road.
Hmmm...Probably an app for that.

Robert what provisions are you planning to use to change a tire on the trailer? I just recently purchased the Trailer Aid. Trust me, the jack Ford supplies with the truck SUCKS. I'll use it if necessary on my truck, but I'm not going to use it on the trailer. I hope this was $41 I spent on an item, but never use!

Three more small items, hitch lube, hitch cover, and some electric contact lube, all from Amazon

I've always wondered why you need to lube your hitch. I know it's probably obvious, but can someone explain? I've pulled trailers for years and never done this. What was I risking?

I have read both pros and cons for lubing the ball/coupler. Some say less wear, but I have never seen much wear on a ball anyway. Others say lube on ball more likely for coupler to pop off. But I doubt that would happen if the coupler is adjusted properly.
