Optional closet in 21’ Escape trailer

It should be noted that in the photos that Jim has posted of the extra wardrobe option and the window option, there have been some slight modifications to the cabinets on the right hand side of the fridge from those shown in the standard option. Some people, including us, have opted to try and utilize the space that is above the "microwave" cabinet to slightly better use. However, the space that is otherwise in the bottom of the wardrobe is forgone. After all, its the same amount of overall space, just utilized differently.

We have the drawer stack, the optional cupboard over the 'microwave' cupboard, and the optional window over the drawer stack (photo #3). Have to say, after nearly one month of camping, we are more than happy with our choices. We do not have a microwave so that cabinet is utilized as part of our pantry while the optional cupboard above is used for foil, paper, bread, etc. (some use it for pots and pans). The window over the drawer-stack not only lets in extra light but it's an awning-type window so we can leave it open at night for extra ventilation. The closet, while not having a recessed bottom, is certainly more than large enough to store hanging clothes, hanging shoe bags, etc. We had considered the extra closet; however, there is so much room in the 21', it would have definitely been over-kill for us.

Let's be clear, the space is the same with or without the small optional opening door over the microwave cabinet, that space is just divided into 2 compartments. If I recall, that option costs $300....just about what the additional opening window costs....

So many choices! We are coming from a 17" Casita, so I am really looking forward to the extra storage. I like the window design over the counter top, really seam open. The openness of the 21 over the 5.0 5th wheel is one of the reasons we chose the 21. Thank you for the pictures!

Jim is correct, the optional cupboard is $300 and the window over the drawer stack is $200. Since we saved $700 from our original estimate by going with the Carefree awning, we were comfortable with our choices. It is, however, something to think about when working on your build sheet for the first time.

We omitted the optional window and larger closet, and are happy with both decisions. There's so much room in R:Escape that we have completely stashed all the stuff from our previous 39' destination model. Fewer holes in the shell and a greater ability to move around. Nice thing, we all got what we wanted! Nice to have options.

Exactly, as Donne always days, YMMV....btw, the optional window is $350 if you go frameless/thermal....

To provide a different perspective, we considered the small awning window over the drawer stack but decided against it for a few reasons: 1) it's another hole cut through the wall and another place where something could go wrong (rain leak, break, etc.), 2) we value darkness when sleeping, and it would be one more place near the bed where outside light could penetrate, 3) we anticipated using that counter top space for some large items while camping, and stuff we put there would end up blocking the window anyway and also make it more difficult to open/close the blind and window, and 4) we didn't feel we would need it for ventilation in the rain because we planned to (and do) use the cook top vent for a protected air inlet. But all of that is just us and our way of camping. To each their own.
