Optional drawer under closet
Quick question, 19 ordered and wondering. If one opted out of the drawer under the cabinet/closet above the furnace, what happens to that space? Is it blocked off by the floor of the cabinet and lost? If so, think I made a mistake.
Thanks

drawer under wardrobe closet?
We asked about that last November and were told if we didn't pick the option we would not have access to that space.

Yes, without the drawer it's dead space. There's also dead space underneath the furnace that some of us have bought a matching door from ETI and opened up.
Highly recommend getting the drawer. Also recommend opening up the other hidden space because it's central and easily accessible.

You will love it especially if you are getting shelf's in the closet.

Thank you all. Guess I didn't put in a lot of thought in that storage area, thinking I would have more space in the closet without the drawer. Unfortunately we locked in our options a little too early and may have to pay the penalty to add. May contact them to add.
Was the opening under the furnace an expensive option?

Hi: Bakes99... The drawer under the closet came about when builds started adding an oven. That eliminated the drawers completely and there never seems to be enough of them anyhow!!! Alf

We got 2 drawers below the pantry cupboard to offset the loss of drawers on the other side of the trailer due to adding an oven. They get used quite often and I would not go without them.

I like the idea of using the empty space under the furnace, Ron. Where did you re-locate the propane alarm? Will you be at the rally? I'd like to see how you added that door.

The extra drawer does shorten up the wardrobe closet by a couple inches. In our previous Escape we had the drawer but not the shelf's and really never noticed the couple inched lost in the wardrobe.

I can't think of any post where someone complained about getting more storage.

There's lot's more hidden space. I also opened up the area under the sink counter and behind the finished cupboards. It's the length of the counter and very handy for storing some types of things.
The propane alarm was relocated across the aisle. I won't be at the rally, leaving for Newfoundland on Sat.
I'm not the only one that's done this type of mod. and there's lots of photos etc. in other posts.
ETI sells the matching doors complete with hinges and handles. The price increased a bit along the way but it's nice to have them matching.

I actually just asked Escape about this earlier this week. The answer I got was that without the drawer the closet just extends downwards a bit further, past the bottom of the door. Maybe it changed between November and now.

This is what we have. I don't see too much added volume with a drawer.

Escape sent me a pic. Did not order the drawer but I was quite satisfied regarding the extra space below where it would extend.

Ron,
What were the dimensions of the door you ordered? I'm looking to do the same thing. Also thinking of just leaving the propane alarm on the new door itself, protecting the wiring after extending it.

Best check install instructions. I don't have them handy, but seem to recall that you don't want detector in a drafty location.

That particular door is 12 1/4" h x 11". ETI uses a variety of sizes will supply one if it's a regular door in use.

Don't think that it matters much in such a limited area as long as it's down low.
