The propane burner assembly is more complicated than the electric heater (which is just a resistor), and the electronic propane control and ignition system is far more complex than the couple of switches (plus a relay if you have added a 12V switch for the electric side) of the electric control system, so I wouldn't assume that the propane would be more reliable.

I like the idea of the electric heating function as a backup.

I could not agree more.

One of the numerous reasons we got the 2 way water heater is..... we found the electric water heater system far more reliable than the propane side of the water heater on our Casita. Plus having electrical is a backup.

plus if we have shore power, we can run both... to have hot water fast. With 3 people usually in our Escape - this is can actually be very handy if we are all having showers the same morning.

Ah! So that is why we are finding the opossite of our assumption to be true! Thank you!

Here a pic of our 19 dinette. The benches are raised 3" for a better view outside. No raised floor.
We did without a bathroom window. The fan in the bathroom does a good job getting rid of the moisture.
The kitchen window is nice to have. Together with the maxx fan it gives a good air circulation for at night. It also gives more light onto the counter in daytime.
The water heater: opinions here enough already.
Best wishes on all the decision making!
